Re: trespass about to become a criminal offence
I know the Ramblers Association is fighting this legislation. Not heard from CW or BC.......? Not sure Parliament can now legislate on this in Wales, I am pretty sure powers around land use are devolved, but not criminal law? Maybe London can legislate on this in Wales? Constitutional lawyer needed!...

Last time I bought Old Town canoes, a local canoe hire company was importing a container from the States, and we added ours to their order.

Re: Boating up -river
In North America they compete in poling competitions up stream in canoes. There is a world championships. If I remember correctly an aptly named Harry Rock was world champion several times. Poling is really hard work and if you get it wrong, instantly wet. Good laugh in the summer with a couple of l...

Re: Annoyed, fed up. BC don't get it?
Every one again thanks for the comments. Would have been nice if some one from BC had given input? Playing devil's advocate, if really senior people at BC were asked their preference, whether they could have legally clear open access, or at least 2 golds guaranteed at every Olympics and World Champi...

Re: Annoyed, fed up. BC don't get it?
Had my response back from my MP, basically his response is, blah blah blah blah blah, voluntary agreements, blah blah blah. Have you seen the signs the Wye and Usk Foundation have had up for ages on the Usk? These signs have EAW, and Welsh Assembly , Coutryside Council for Wales logo on them . NRW h...

Re: Annoyed, fed up. BC don't get it?
Hi Pam, still being abused in 2020. This should have been resolved years ago. As long as BC get their medals then all is fine. With the advent of more artificial courses for slalom who needs river access? I know this is cynical, but that is how I feel. Fed up and let down. I know about the new campa...

Annoyed, fed up. BC don't get it?
Saturday 7 March I was kayaking the Usk from Sennibridge to Brecon with two friends, one happens to be 17, the other female. As we arrived at Aberbran I saw a car go over the bridge and stop. As we got closer the driver was in the field river left at the river's edge and aggressively started shoutin...

Age range, beat this?
Can you beat this?
Paddled the Usk today, oldest 78, youngest 3, on a bit of grade 2 mainly grade 1.
75 year age difference! Can anyone beat that?

Re: Usk - SennyBridge to Brecon
Sorry, am I being dull? Is CW asking us to not paddle this section? If I have a legal right to navigate all year round, which is CW policy, and a land owner's bridge falls on me, then surely the land owner is liable? If the owner takes 10 years to fix the bridge then this section is closed for 10 ye...

John fancy ruining a conspiracy theory! Spoken to a mate who lives in Crickhowell, they do have a traffic warden at the weekend and he is enthusiastic in doing his job! Some good news, if you have a lot of cars, on the weekend you can park in the high school car park if you make a donation in an hon...

Re: Warning warning Crickhowell
Don't know who issued the tickets. There are no traffic wardens in Crickhowell, so has to be police?
Or the landowner's game warden is a special constable on a weekend???????
It will be interesting to see what happens to badly parked cars next time Green Man is on?

Re: Warning warning Crickhowell
In my understanding that has always been the law. I live locally and you never see the police. The pavement goes nowhere as it finishes there. With my conspiracy hat on has an anti paddling land owner made a complaint? I know on busy days other outdoor users such as walkers/dog walkers park there. J...

Warning warning Crickhowell
Did Brecon to Crickhowell today in canoe, 4 and a half hours, not bad! At Crickhowell opposite the small layby, 3 cars were parked on the pavement, not in the way nor blocking the gate, and they all got parking tickets. I have parked there for 20 years and not had a problem. Don't understand it as t...

Trying to remember what I have paddled west of Sort. Rio Gallego, grade 2 to 3, dam release, did it once. Rio Ara, have done this several times. Great run. Two sections that can be run as one. 7km grade 4, really good, then 15 km of 2 to 3 with 1 grade 4, equally nice. Friends have done the section ...

At lower levels there are more surf waves Aberbran to Brecon than Sennibridge to Aberbran, in my opinion.
Both sections go well together. Aberbran down is a great intro to white water.

Quite a few brands do centre helmets and these often come in small, extra small sizes.
I would recommend trying helmets on to make sure it fits, is comfy, and for children looks good!

Ran it Saturday. The fishing boards are permanent but easily avoided.
The bridge was badly damaged last winter and is being fixed. I guess it could fall down on you the moment you pass under it, but looks solid enough.

As a club we use children's nylon and neoprene decks for the dynamo. To start with in the pool before going outside the choice was the child's, being supported by a coach.
When ready they very quickly used the neoprene deck.
