Stolen Slalom Kayak
I have been emailed this and I wonder if you can help & keep an eye out for the following: Tyler got home near Stone from Wales on Sunday night and left her kayak strapped to the car ready to take to the club boathouse Monday morning. Friend selling Werner Sidekick on ebay. Hardly used, probably about half dozen times max. Were a replacement for lost paddles just prior to him getting back into motocross rather than paddling. Scratch on right hand blade blade superficial, left hand pretty much spot on. No chunks or damage other th...

Re: Increase in Salmon numbers
So years of increased paddling on a popular river equates to an increased number of catches.... Maybe the figures are up BECAUSE of canoe / kayak activities and therefore such activities should be encouraged on every river!

Re: River POI's (Again)
I created the paddlesup site, (until the host went bust and shut down the servers without a word to any client, but thats another story) and am sure I have the original CSV and POI files somewhere. I will take a look for them shortly. Original the POI were created as a personal project, with many ho...

A few more for your list: * Seat swapping races whilst in a raft, one across the front and one across the back, * Heads shoulders knees and toes, get them standing up & doing the actions whilst they all sing loud, Great for getting complaints from other users which is an incentive to go louder! * Gr...

Re: Places to paddle across the UK
Never said they were all perfect :P, Its a lot of work to go through them all, plus the original tomtom files didn't like being converted. I may take another look at some point and see if there are any updated converters since 2008 that will allow a little more accuracy. As for the Aray Access Road ...

Re: Places to paddle across the UK
A few years ago I completed a large number of TomTom POI files for a load of rivers, these, with a load of data from other paddlers on here, were transferred to: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=uk&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=214588201546332378238.00044442acb7db09baab3 with similar intention...

Re: Helpful first aid videos
As said before it is aimed at people with no training with a view to something is better than nothing. One thing that annoys me is the way that the majority of TV Programs, Movies and even this advert portray the victim as being worked on for a short time to be revived with a cough and splutter with...

Re: Camping Symonds Yat
We stayed at the 'fairground' site last year, it was erm... interesting. Location is ideal but wouldn't recommend it. The owner seemed to relish throwing rules about, no BBQ's, no noise, no open fires and was quite rude to the group, even though the next group along were ticking all the same boxes i...

I think you need to take EJ's way of doing things as what it is - EJ's way of doing things. You have people, some on here, who are coaches though and though, developing techniques that are suitable for all, best practice, and I have a lot of time for what they say and can learn a huge amount from th...

I picked up a pair for my Focus estate, nearly new from ebay for a silly cheap price ~£15! The trick is to know what your after, and search the vehicle specific listings. I bought from a guy selling from a Mitsubishi 4x4 with rails thing, identical part as the Focus. Whilst the ones listed for a Foc...

Re: Cheapish easy to use DSLR
I picked up a Nikon D60 a couple of years ago for about £350 new, excellent camera for playing with, all the features you need for learning what they do and it will take pictures better than my ability will ever allow. The downside is that whilst its a cheaper camera the A-FS lenses it requires are ...

A 'tailored' waterproof paddle kit bag that is shaped for placing inside the kayak seating area, extending into the bow / leg area and combining a spray deck style seal, access zip across the centre of the deck area maybe?. Boats can be popped onto roof / plane etc, with kit inside it and sealed int...

Re: Buffalo / Montane smock any good
I would highly recommend the Buffalo shirt, I have had a special 6 for about 15 years and it is still going strong, nice and warm, showerproof and pretty robust, well worth the £90ish I managed to pay for it. I have worn paddling under dry kit, open boating as my main top, up in the mountains, in th...

Re: Waterproof Digi Camera - which one?
I use both the Olympus Mju720 and the Pentax w80 at work in relativly large numbers with primary kids (at present 40+ Olympus and similar number of pentax) Both are great cameras with similar results, and both models take a bit of a beating when in use. Personally I would have to go with the Pentax ...

I have a Biscuit 55. (am 6'1", 13 st, size 10 feet) Personally I really like it, easy to paddle, can pull off a few moves and more importantly for me is very comfortable to with good foot room. I am not a playboater and the boat rarely follows what the head thinks it's doing, but I have found it a h...

I am a beach ball kinda guy myself, Following a beach party I had a few left over, quite large, heavy duty and at a cost of about 50p each much better value than 'proper' airbags for exactly the same result.
