Depending which section(s) of the Karnali, that looks pretty sensible.

Gotta love that faffy Nepali life...

Re: Pyranha 9R '2' - what's the difference?

I think most changes are down to the way the original 9R was used. Pyranha did not expect people to take a boat that was primarily designed to go as fast in a straight line (as fast a sub 9 foot river design can go anyway) and push their limits with hard whitewater. With harder and harder race cours...

Re: Wavesport transformer (T1)

Very outdated boat. Wasn't a great design when it was released either.

If you are looking for an all out freestyle kayak for a reasonable price, go hunting for a 2nd hand;
  • Pyranha Jed
  • Jackson Allstar/Rockstar
  • Wavesport Project/Project X
  • Dagger Jitsu/Kingpin

If you are wanting it to be suited to mainly river running and you only need to do basic moves in it, then perhaps an out and out Freestyle kayak is not actually what you are looking for?

What do you consider as a basic move?

Re: Drysuit tape - is it worth buying your own?

I just come off the water with a damp patch on my outer thermals around my lower back. I don't even need to capsize to feel the water coming through. If you are getting wet without even capsizing, perhaps you have worn through the fabric rather than the seams themselves leaking. I had just hoped th...

Re: Which spray deck for a Jackson Monstar?

The IR XXL cockpits will work well.

Due to the decks being SO big, it might be an idea to get a rand style deck rather than a bungee. This massive cockpit can be fairly subsceptible to implosions in rougher water.

The large Machno is pretty big. Have a look at the IR Klingon in an XL cockpit - https://immersionresearch.eu/store/spray-decks/whitewater-bungee-decks/2018-klingon-bungee-spray-skirt/ . Much stretchier than the rand models (and most people do not need a rand) and super high performance. I can fit t...

The IR klingon is probably the driest deck going - https://immersionresearch.eu/store/spra ... ray-skirt/

i wouldn't rule out the fact that it is just your bolts in the boat leaking. Try and seal them up and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Creek Boat Advice

The raptor caused a storm on UKRGB when it came out. With many people saying how different it was from the current boat offerings. I don't think it would be very accurate to say an older boat was similar to it. Before the likes of the 9R/Tuna were turning heads and making people think differently ab...

Do the folk that have actual experience of a medium Machno have any view on seat position?
The widest part of Pyranha boats tend to be behind the seat these days. I would suggest a neutral seat position or perhaps slightly back.
Basically, anything but forwards.

Surprised the 9R isn't on your list. That's in the same ball park as the new Zet. I do have a comparison between the 9R and Machno - http://scottishwhitewater.blogspot.com/2017/10/9r-vs-machno.html I agree with Dave though, it is going to be tough to find one boat that is perfect for everything you ...

aside from the Peak cagdecks
IR will do a cagdeck too! It's done on a on demand basis so you need to email them to get the ball rolling.
The deck and top are glued together rather than stitched and taped (which you'll see on cheaper cagdecks), this should keep everything watertight for longer.

I understand the former is made with polyester (which apparently is less likely to wet out when the DWR wears off) and the latter with nylon, but is the 7Figure notably lighter This is all correct. IR XL cockpit.

Go for a rand deck if you are doing big volume and drops over 10m. Everybody else will be better suited with one of the 'klingon' bungee with dry lip decks. They are cheaper than rands too!

Switching to the neoprene based seals is a really quick process. They look almost the same at the latex ones, just a bit less stretchy. I was impressed with them.

The Kokatat can be a bit heavy. Think it was the IR I looked at that was nice and soft. I don' think that is 100% correct. The IR 7 Figure suit has fabric that is basically chosen to outlast gore-tex. It probably isn't quite as breathable though. They both feel fairly similar. The IR Devil's Club s...

Re: Cag maintenance advice

If a seal is worn out, its worn out. Nothing is going to change that. Hot water, chalk not even the 303 spray (which only helps to keep the seal in its current state, not heal it) will help.

Have you tried simply pulling the seals further down your wrists and neck?
