Waka Tuna MK1 (damaged)

I am selling my Waka Tuna as i never use it (spend most of my time in an axiom)! The bow has been damaged and repaired professionally (above the waterline), the hull itself is in great condition as it has only been on the river about 20 times. I have replaced the hip pads with Jackson ones and added...

A basic model I came up with to help paddlers be a bit more tactically aware and proactive: E -ntry to exit route and manoeuvre. F -low & Features that could help. F -low & Features that could hinder. E -ssential strokes, positions and moves. C -ontingency plans and switch points. T -eam members’ sa...

Re: First thing you coach on WW

Speaking for myself - I never try to teach edging in terms of "lifting a knee". I've watched too many beginners try to link a knee lift with the way they want to go - Is it lift the right knee to turn right? Or the left knee? Getting them to look where they are going - not just with their eyes, but...

Re: Thinking of a New Boat

Another vote for the Zen, its quick, stable, surfs, carves, and has good rocker without being a full on creeker, an ideal boat for the rivers mentioned in the OP! Only issue would be choice between the medium or large, at 80kg (+wet kit) you are pushing the limit of the medium, the large may be too ...

Re: LTM coaching advice

Learners retention (both theoretical and practical) will ultimately be dictated by your use of coaching tools, and ability to tailor sessions to meet individual learners needs. There are obviously numerous other factors (that's why there are books written on the subject) that also contribute but if ...

VE Carbon Cranked Paddle RH 200cm

Bought last September and had little use, standard surface scratches as expected but nothing major. Full carbon blades and cranked shaft, right handed, 200cm long (ideal for river running if you are around the 6ft mark), with a 25 degree feather. These are great paddles, lightweight and very powerfu...

Re: Bl**dy Rolling

During your set-up your leading hand (you right hand in the video) is being placed too far forwards towards the bow of the boat, this often happens as it is commonly taught to 'tuck' forwards' when capsizing. Although tucking up is very wise (especially on UK rivers) try to avoid reaching forwards (...

Re: Afon Irfon - Camddwr Bleiddiad Gorge to Llanwrtyd Wells

Ran this section on a 0.79 (rainchasers) which is between a low and medium on their calibrations, wouldn't recommend getting on at Camddwr Bleiddiad Gorge anywhere near this low, the first few (and only real notable) rapids are just nasty squeezes through boulder chokes and the following rapids to t...

Re: Jackson Zen 2015

Picked one up yesterday to replace my Recon 83 (too big and heavy...), wasn't to sure on sizes as the weight ranges are a bit odd but went for the medium (aircraft hangers are more 'sporty'), it does seem so be a similar size (possible slightly smaller) than a medium burn, 8.1 mamba, etc. Paddled it...

I'm sure it is a great confidence boost for some paddlers, hopefully they also invest in some good coaching and not become reliant on it just because it helps them keep their legs dry...

Not quite sure if this is a good promotional video or not!
