Re: Look after your ears!

Also recurrent ear infections can lead to a condition called a cholesteotoma which is basically an invasive tumour that can be really quite dangerous, I had one which lead to a nasty 5hr operation hence I always wear plugs in water, even swimming

Re: I never capsize properly

We had this with one person at our club and we found that all they needed to do was to let the boat level out before they tried their roll, in other words don't over complicate it but just slow the whole process down before you set up and allow yourself to go under before any attempts of rolling, an...

Re: First cag for around £100

I am looking for the first cag to buy and I have around £100 to spend. My advise would be to spend a little more on a cag if you are looking at using it all year round. A cag that costs £150 is more than 50% better than a cag that costs £100, so you will be getting better value for your money. I wo...

Re: Disappearing bookings at the Lee Valley course...

Whilst the booking experiences above are clearly unacceptable I have to say from a personal and club perspective my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The are areas for improvement, but saying that the entire management should be changed seems harsh. It's a new facility and there will be ...

Re: Water in Ear...

I have had ear problems all of my life resulting in a 5hr operation called a mastoidectomy, i wouldnt put chemicals in your ears because they can make it worse. If you have a perforation the water could be behind the ear drum (any deafness) which if random chemicals get it in wouldnt be good. You are...

Re: How many can't go paddling this weekend due to Mother's

I've been banned from kayaking this weekend due to Mother's Day. (1) I have to entertain my mother on Sunday. (2) I have to entertain my wife for the rest of the time on behalf of my daughter. Love it! Its not just me then, ive decided to finish early (self employed) and shoot up to Lee Valley fri ...

I've only paddled Cardiff on an 8 release, really really enjoyed it the 4 or 5 times I went, but the shallowness made me a little wary about pushing myself and playing having witnessed the pain second hand. On the LV Legacy I don't worry about such things as I've been down the whole thing at some p...

Lee Vally or Cardiif

Just wondered what you guys think is the best having just been to LV. Went to Cardiff in March this year on 4 and 8 cumecs and loved it. Only paddled the legacy at LV but thought it was tougher than Cardiff and better. I thought it was more full on although shorter and that the eddies were a lot les...

Re: Best paddle of 2011

I feel a bit of Philistine to say this, but Lee Valley WWC has been the absolute highlight for me Depressingly I have to say the same thing -- but only because it would appear that through the whole of 2011, apart from a few totally flat rivers and lakes, it's the ONLY place I've paddled.... :-/ I ...
