For Sale: Jackson Allstar

For sale- Jackson Allstar. I outgrew this boat many years ago and it really deserves a new home! Very easy boat to paddle and surfs so nicely. Scratches are all superficial, there is one deeper scratch above the right rail which is unlikely to see any wear. £350 on its own or £450 including happy fe...

Does that mean you're a sea kayaker if you regularly paddle the Falls of Lora, Bitches etc in a whitewater boat?

Or do you have to be in a sea kayak to be a sea kayaker?

It's like an epic James Bond chase scene really.

Bonus points for spotting a very tired looking multi time Sickline winner.

Re: Trent Lock video and boat discussion.

Sweet video! I'd have to agree with you on the boat choice. If I was going to have my time again I wouldn't of bought my Jackson all star (09 version) as I've now realised throwing tricks at pont isn't my thing at all. My playboat only ever comes out when trent lock or sawley is in, so I'd be better...

I'm sure you've heard this so many times but you can't go wrong with werners, always paddled with them and despite a bit of chipping round the edge they've not been too damaged. I think it better to have a blade that chips than snaps. I've also heard lots of good things about VE (tried them and thou...

Back in what feels like the oh so long ago monsoon like summer. Finished work, got picked up by a mate to head on down to Trent Lock to enjoy perfect levels thanks to all the unseasonal(?) summer rain. You can't get much better than an evening messing around with friends, carving on a glassy wave wh...

I personally wouldn't buy any knock offs due to moral reasons. The kayaking industry is small and very fragile at the minute so having people not only screw over the manafacturers but the retailers too isn't a good thing. If people start buying chinese copies then hard working, local companies will ...

I'm starting to try and use method 1 more after becoming lazy with my roll. I feel the perfect roll is one that brings you up in a position so that you are ready to put an efficient stroke in to get you away from or out of any trouble. This means coming up sitting in an up right position is better t...

Hi Craig, I had a Remix 69 for about a year but have sold it now. It was my first proper creek boat and as you said it's comfy. I found it incredibly easy to do big boofs and because of its length it charged really fast and straight down meaty stuff. However... The thigh pads need a few inches of fo...

As the saying goes 'If someone wants it. They'll have it'. The best way to prevent stuff being nicked is to put as many massive chains and locks on it and attach them to as many points as possible so it looks like it's impossible to steal or will atleast take a long time to do so, hoping that someon...

Desperate Measures are taking a demo fleet with them including some of wave sports demo fleet. Give them a ring and they'll let you know what they can get you. If it's the same as last year Pyranha will be there too.

Go paddle them and make your own decision. It will work a lot better than listening to someone else tell you about how they've only paddled one of the boats which just happens to be the one they own and surpisingly enough they love it and will persuade you to have it. It's alll about personal prefer...

Regarding breathability, everyone seems to be assuming you will only ever be wearing it whilst paddling. From experience I can vouch for the necessity of a breathable dry suit when you factor in a 15 min walk in to a river and the same to walk out. And then if you ever have to do rope work, 1 hour u...

Paddles for C2 touring marathon

Hi all, I'm competing in the Liffey in a few months and was wondering what paddles people have used for C2 touring (open boat). We've decided we dont want cranked paddles and we're keen on getting something carbon that's strong enough to cope with whitewater. Has anyone got any experience with the W...

kayak store in Cali

I'm off to Cali on monday and unfortunately have to leave the boats behind! But I was wondering if anyone knows of any friendly kayak stores that I can call into for a look at some different kit and a bit of a chat. I've had a look online but can only find kayak rental shops.

Cheers!

I saw a rather unusual but clever way to keep car keys dry last week, it was popping them in a condom and tying it up. It wouldn't be the first time you seriously hope that it doesn't break!

Re: Palm G3 paddle???

I had a go with the proto-types up in Scotland and was very impressed. They are light and have suprisingly stiff blades considering they are plastic. They feel really responsive and powerful with a nice catch. I'd definitely reccomend them or the TNP Rapa's which are a little cheaper. Oh and I'd go ...
