LOST - Mitchell Paddles - Town Falls - 19th Sept 2017

My friend lost her Blue faced Mitchell Jaguar 197 paddles on Town Falls, River Dee, on Sunday. We were running hard left against the wall when we lost them, so they may be in sight within the trees when the river drops - was on 1.0 Sunday. Would be extremely grateful if they found there way back to ...

Re: fluid element

The Element is supper fast on waves, compared to a standard playboat. It can be a bit of a handful in the surf if you're approaching the 100kg mark or above (like me), especially if it's messy, but is certainly a load of fun and keeps your roll sharp. Here's a little clip from Stanley. You'll notice...

Re: Big up your local run

The River Goyt is my local run. It's usually grade 2, but when it does come up it just manages to break in to grade 3, with lots of trees and a few weirs to keep you on your toes. My lads been paddling on it since he was 6 and I like to think that over the years it's given him some good experiences ...

I thought that when I saw the first few. As we picked them up we could see more and more, scattered all over the car park.

I've had a few emails from the NT. They are aware, and have a ranger checking the site periodically.

The local Police also have a record of it.

Isn't it swarming with public footpaths on the upper?
So long as you don't park and use the facilities, I presume that it's okay to rock up and get on - like every other river in Wales.

Public Toilet Falls Car Park Hazard.

Be careful parking at PTF. Pictures say it all really. I'll pass the info on to the NT & Police tomorrow. Five's about the best I can do, safely. Where it wins for me is the room in the back.

Ten boats & six paddlers - standard load out for a Lee Valley trip.

Re: Charging a £3 fee at JJ's

We went to the Dee the other week to introduce some of the kids in our club to some different moving water - they usually train on the River Goyt. The plan was to have a two hour session at the mill. On arrival we saw the signs with the £3 per person fee. With 7 kids and 3 supporting adults, £30 see...

Expensive to run i think? Not sure what is costs to hire the Legacy Loop for a Div2/3 event, but it's probably a great deal more than what you'd get back in entry fees. Do the extra medals mean we'll get a bigger slice of the UKSport cake and if so will this be used for hiring the Olympic run for Pr...

Re: Morriston Dam release on tuesday?

I'll be having my first a bash at the Moriston in June. We were planning to paddle it all day Wednesday, but we've heard from some that it's low on a Weds, and drops off loads from midday onwards - is this right as I got the impression from the link above that it releases 1200 Tuesday until 1700 Wed...

River Goyt - Tree Hazard

We did the trip from Roman lakes to MCC last night, and encountered lots of tree hazards :( They were all around the road bridge going over the Goyt at Roman lakes. The first one is above the first rapid you get to, just before the 'sloped' play wave. This wasn't a problem to us, as we got on river ...

Unless someone has a small offcut, your best bet would be to call Aalco or Richard Austin Alloys (two of the largest stockholders in the UK) Not sure how accurately you've measured it but 1.5" sch5 could do it, if It's available - check Aalco's data sheets, off the web. You can usually walk in and p...

I’m not paddling at the moment due to injury, buy I go down to MEM with our club to take pics now and then. I usually park in the small layby on Abbey Road, just before it goes over the canal at Towers Road. I then walk down to the, less noticeable, small path next to the row of houses. This brings ...

Rob,

It was my, sarcastic, quote on FB. I was suggesting that maybe it was a typo and, due to them thinking they own that stretch of river, it might have been more like £250k.
