Re: what glue for foam in mega boat
I used to use spray carpet glue, never lost anything out of a kayak or had any of the padding come lose after using the spray carpet glue. If using the carpet glue and you ever need to remove some padding it dissolves with white spirit. Now I used Nemesis from Screwfix, its pretty much the same as S...

Re: Nose diving
Another vote for leaning forward and and lifting a knee. By lifting a knee and tilting/edging the kayak slightly you remove the pressure of the water thats making the bow plough under and you allow the bow to slice back up to the surface. If messing about bow stalls/perling can be great fun but not ...

Re: Mega Jester Rio feedback welcome....
Sorry for the delay in sending a response. I was kind of lucky, I spotted a dirty kayak behind a surf shop in Cornwall, so being curious I had a look and it was full of skanky water, rotten leaves and snails and was not in a pretty state but I could see it was a Mega Jester Rio. So doing the right t...

I prefer the white water position as well, I find low knee's close together to be uncomfortable over a period of time.

Re: Wavesport ZG Vs Project X
Ah makes sense and yes I agree with the confidence bit. The Wavesport Project X, Wavesport XXX, Jackson Star, Jackson Allstar 2010, Riot Air 45, Riot Glide, Riot Astro, Riot Trickster/Prankster are a few kayaks that I have used in the surf and really enjoyed them all. The longer boats like the Waves...

Re: Wavesport ZG Vs Project X
I have had both. To be honest in my opinion I found no strengths for the ZG, loved the Wavesport Project X in every way. The ZG was ultra cheap so I picked it up to have a play like you do. The seating position felt slightly odd, I could never get the seat position right to feel balanced in the ZG. ...

Re: Whitewater kayak that's also good for sea surfing
I second the Wavesport XXX and most Riot kayaks. Having owned a Riot Glide & Wavesport XXX I can confirm both can perform well on the surf, including carving on a wave but dont expect full surf kayak performance. Other kayaks I have used on the surf. Wavesport Project X48, Jackson Star, Jackson Alls...

Hi Denzil, Thanks for the tips :-) Your description is so spot on it made me smile, locked in is definitely the right expression. My experience so far. Paddle 1: Clean 2ft waves mainly to get used to paddling around and practise a few rolls before hitting anything bigger. Everything felt odd but goo...

Hello to all, I have been really lucky and picked up a Mega Jester Rio for free, tatty but usable. So far I have had a couple of sessions in it on 3-4ft nice swell, rolling easy, paddle out easy, holding a wave face, awesome, turning well I have not found the steering controls yet ;-) So a daft ques...

Surf kayaks wanted.....Cornwall/Devon area.
Hello to all,
I am looking to buy a longer surf kayak, Mega Jester/Titan/Rave for example.
Also looking to replace my shorter surf kayak so could be hip for buying a shorter surf kayak as well.
My weight is 13 stone.
Generally anything considered other than plastic ;-)
Cash waiting, can travel.

Re: Waveski - Which Leash should I go for?
If you go for a leash personally I think the coiled ones are best as they dont get in the way so much when paddling, like any other kit inspect on a regular basis. Please note this is a personal opinion - I used to use a leash but dont any more, the reason is I had the thought of being tangled up wh...

Re: car keys
On all of my vehicles that I have used for paddling I get a couple of keys cut without the transponder, one of these goes under the bodywork some where in a very obscure place and stays there, the other goes on a lanyard which goes around my neck underneath my wetsuit or BA. I also have a fully work...

Cheap playboat wanted in the Wiltshire/Dorset/Hampshire area.
Hello to all,
I am looking for a cheap medium size playboat, looking to spend around £200 but may be tempted to part with a little more if the right playboat turns up.
Cheers :-)

Re: Lomo drysuit
I had a Lomo cag and it leaked in under 8 months from new. It went back to Lomo twice and both times they tested it and said it was fine. End result I binned it and ended up losing money on the cag itself and postage costs. Lomo customer service was good until I requested a replacement or refund the...

Re: Starting in a playboat?
I like playboats and I find them fun but I dont run very many rivers. My main use for the playboat is messing around on local water features, the occasional river run, the odd trip to a white water centre and lots of messing around in the surf. On the odd river run I do I find the playboats good fun...

Re: Waveski/surf kayak advice
My journey with surf kayaking. I started with a generic waveski with no ww or surf paddling experience. The learning curve was steep but eventually I could surf it on 2-3ft waves with confidence and roll in all directions with feet still in the foot straps. I then went to short playboats to become m...

Re: How big is too big?
For me generally 5ft and under is what I prefer to play on if using the surf kayak. Anything over 5ft and I start to get a little nervous. If bigger than 5ft I will often take the Wavesport XXX playboat out, not as good as a surf kayak but a little more forgiving with stability and the paddle out et...

Cheers for the awesome reply Denzil.
I will keep an eye on the second hand market and see what turns up. I am tempted maybe to keep to 2 x kayaks one being the jacvk of all trades and one for the HP balls to the wall as you put it.
Just being curious what rules out the Billit XS in your opinion?
