Re: Wavesport Project X48 - For Sale

Price slashed to just £500.00 as I now need to raise some money, rather than just create some space.

Only used approximately 16 times and over £300.00 off the price of new...got to be a good deal for someone.

Vertical Element paddle - For sale

Vertical Element paddle. Glass-fibre shaft and carbon-fibre blades. 194cm. 0° offset. A great paddle that has served me well and has loads of life left in it. One corner of the left blade is a little bit flaky. It looks as though the resin didn't get all the way to the edge when it was vacuum-formed...

Wavesport ZG54 - For sale

Wavesport ZG54 in blue. Has seen plenty of use and is showing its age but is still basically solid. There's a small crack to the inside of the cockpit rim and a bit of oil-canning to the hull. There are no cracks, splits or welds to the hull or deck and is water-tight. Ideal for someone starting out...

WaveSport Diesel 80 - For Sale

WaveSport Diesel 80, good condition with the usual scratches that are commensurate with a kayak that has been used for paddling grade 2 & 3 rivers. No dents or repairs. This is a good, solid river-runner and a very stable one at that! Everything works as it should. I'll be sad to see it go but it ju...

Re: bow stall conspiracy

I'm with you damppaddler. It's all photoshop, or done with mirrors. You would think so, wouldn't you? It's actually a liberal sprinkling of fairy dust prior to seal-launching that does it. I've managed to get the bow down maybe a dozen times (not sure who sprinkled the fairy dust on my boat) and co...

Fun at Tees Barrage - Video

My bro' and I went up to Tees Barrage and had an awesome time, what a great course, just wish it was a little nearer. Video footage and photos courtesy of my wife who came along to watch and film us, but also came away on a high, just from the energy of the place. Better than CIWW and HPP combined i...

Re: Cartwheeling / Stalling Coaching

Point 3...push the bow deep while throwing your bodyweight forward. This is where I am stuck, how exactly does one 'push the bow deep'? I've watched just about every video on Youtube explaining how to double-pump/cartwheel/bow-stall and none of them have helped me. I get the boat to 45°before it flo...

Re: Finding it impossible to roll.

Where are you looking at the end of the sweep? My guess is that you're looking forward with your head lifted (video footage of your roll attempts would be very helpful in determining exactly what is going wrong). In the meantime, continue attempting the sweep roll but don't stop sweeping until your ...

Re: Keeping body over kayak

If you're tipping in on the upstream side it would suggest that you're not edging quite enough, so the upstream edge is getting caught by the current and flipping you; rather than you flopping in due to being off balance but forget edging for a second, here's something for you to try..." Always look...

Two playboats stolen!

Could I please ask the members of this community to be on the lookout for two kayaks that have recently been stolen from Oldham, Gtr Manchester. The kayaks are a Liquidlogic Biscuit 55 in yellow and a Pyranha 4-Twenty in green and white. The serial number of the Biscuit is known and the 4-Twenty can...

Re: Zero Feather Paddles Campaign

I'm very pleased with my 0° offset (no feather) VE paddle and would highly recommend them. I went to 0° offset primarily because of a problem with my right wrist which made it painful to use paddles with the usual 45° offset, particularly when bracing on the left side. Since making the switch I have...

Re: Non-vented Helmets - Bucket of water effect

I've recently switched to a helmet that doesn't have vents and the amount of water that runs out after rolling up has reduced to almost nothing. I do feel a bit running out of the back but nothing at the front, whereas my previous vented helmet would dump loads of water over my face. A big thumbs-up...

Re: Burrs Weir - Problems

As has been said above, it's a solid flat slab at the bottom and cannot be altered no matter high powerful the flow gets. The stopper only changes with the amount of water coming down the weir. I ran it on Saturday at roughly 55cm and knew there was a good chance I'd get stuck :o) but also knew it w...

"Kept the momentum through Stonehenge there" says the commentator, as the kayaking graphic hits the Rapid-Blocks side on...and somehow he doesn't get flipped and pinned either!

I have a feeling this would be better on the Nintendo Wii...erm...maybe.

Brookbank in Stockport told me that they had stock of the old full-cut Rockers a couple of weeks ago, though I didn't actually go in and see them for myself so I can't confirm it one way or the other.

Cheers mate, I've just been messing about with position in garden. I Didn't even know the seat can move back and forward until now. Can you describe the proper position you should have. You should be aiming for an even weight distribution between the bow and stern as a starting point. In an ideal w...

Seconded. Invaluable.
Thirded (Is that a word?.....It is now) I used video footage of another persons roll to show him where his roll was going wrong and it really helped.

Re: Rolling Question

Putting downward force on the paddle while it was moving over the water was the killer for me Is this what causes the paddle to 'dive'? The paddle will dive if the angle is wrong, but you will get a similar effect if you try to pull down on the paddle when it's too close to the boat. As you said, y...
