Re: River Tummel - Loch Tummel to Loch Faskally

CURRENT SITUATION: (June 2017) The egress that has historically been used at Clunie Power Station will remain closed to vehicles for the remainder of the summer. Egress may still be taken on foot with a walk up the road to a vehicle (responsibly) parked on the public highway. The small hard standing...

LOST: River Leny

After paddling the River Leny on Tuesday night (19 May), a full set of kit was left in the car park at the get out in Kilmahog. After being dropped of at the top of the river to collect their van, the kit was forgotten about and the van driven straight home. It is a full set of kit; (Boat, paddle, h...

Re: Attitudes towards solo kayaking

A guy I know is big into solo boating and has a very good blog looking at the essence of soloing.... http://worldkayakblogs.com/robinsolos/ It helps that he is a bloody good paddler, and has solo'd stuff that most of us would think twice about, even with a full crew of safety. (The Addidas sickline ...

Re: Allt a' Chaoruinn.... carnage & cable cams....

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, it's much appreciated. The cable cam rig is as simple as it could possibly get, so that it can tuck behind the seat of my Burn when not in use. It uses a small block of hardwood with 2 pulleys (B&Q specials) attached to each end. Through the middle of the b...

Re: Central Highlands long range river forecast...

We've had some brilliant days paddling in May and June in the past, as well as never being able to set a boat in the water. It just depends how lucky (or unlucky depending upon your perspective) you get with the rains. Assuming it'll be fairly dry (you won't have to look for the water if it's wet), ...

Run this yesterday and the tree has flushed from the tunnel. At present, it's not blocking any of the rapids downstream either.

Cheers guys.
Sorry about the pizza Ieuan :D

If you pause the video on each of the country graphics, it lists the rivers run in each one. Doesn't help you tally up with the clips tho.

The past 18 months....

We've not made a new vid in a while, so here's a short edit of some of the footage of our adventures from the past 18 months. Hopefully get folk in the mood for paddling this weekend. Enjoy....

Not Brian or Neil, I'm Gavin, a pal of theirs. No worries, I'll no doubt see you on the water if you come out paddling with them again.

Re: Halo Effect review

I've ordered both Dream Result and Congo direct from the guys. Both of them (Bradt & Fisher) have marked the US Postal form as DVD: value $5. This has meant quick delivery and no customs issue. Both films played without hassle, and were very good. Fisher treats Congo / Halo much more like a professi...

Re: Contour roam

I've had the predecessor to the Roam for just over a year now (Contour 1080). Have to say I love it, no hassle knowing if it's on; press the button and the lasers let you know, solid on/off switch is a no brainer for recording or not, and it beeps in your ear once it's written the file. (Class 10 ca...

Re: "That's my boat!"

Christmas Eve 2011 saw myself an two buddy's head up the Etive for a festive blast. The storms that were raging though had swollen the Etive to levels rarely seen, (so high that the rocks you stand on to look at the last drop were completely under water. But thats another story!) We ended up parking...

Re: Disorderly conduct

James, Firstly, well done for organising a quality event, and one that I, and everyone I know that attended, is desperate to see become an annual fixture in the Scottish paddling calendar. Don't let the action of a few (drunken) A-holes, get you down or cloud any pride / satisfaction from what was a...

Re: Scottish River levels information on SEPA web site

Personally I find the height information enough of a steer to build a picture of whats happening in the area (esp if combined with rainfall radar data), and for many years wanted far more rivers added to the SEPA site. The recent addition of rivers and burns has been brilliant. But I'm enough of a g...

Re: Whats the weirdest thing you have seen whilst paddling

Whilst slalom training under Perth bridge many moons ago, I heard dozens of Police / Fire / Ambulance sirens passing over the bridge. I didn't think anything of it at the time. About 20 mins later there were two guys swimming in the river downstream of the arch I was under. At first I thought it was...

Re: Corsica snowpack?

I visited Corsica many years ago travelling and vowed to return one day with my Kayak.
I know spring is the time to go to catch the snowmelt, but I've never heard any better info.

Any guidance or factors to consider for planning the timing of a trip?

Any help much appreciated. Cheers.

From a Perth perspective:
Isla for a girl;
Braan, Bruar, Garry for a lad.

Or my local rivers; Calair or Leny.

Or; Cas, Conon (not to be confused with Conan as in Barbarian, although thats a pretty strong case against)
