Re: What paddle again - only splits this time!

I've been using a pair of VE 2 piece splits for a couple of years now as my main paddle. I couldn't recommend highly enough. Still fit inside my boat to use as emergency back up if needed too. totally adjustable as to feather and also something like 10cm flexibility with length. The locking system t...

Without a doubt The Prijon Samuri.

It's time for an alpine snow pack thread.

Any early indications as to the size of the snow pack in the various popular alps regions this year?

Also Mitchell paddles.
The Rodeo paddle with carbon laminate is a thing of beauty.
I would imagine quite expensive to have it imported though.

Re: Grand Canyon advice

Never having done it myself so only going on video and my experience of other larger volume rivers I'd say a competent grade 4 paddler would be fine. Large lungs and a solid roll will obviously help. The rapids all seem to be fairly short in nature and the river is very pool drop so swims should be ...

Re: Grand Canyon advice

I may be jumping the gun a little bit as we won't know if our application has been successful for another two weeks but thanks for all the advice I'm sure if we're lucky enough to get pulled out of the hat it will all come in very useful. I've had a look on a couple of the suggested outfitters web s...

Thanks so much for that Jim. having watched Dave Wortleys excellent video I am incredibly excited about it. so fingers crossed we are lucky enough to get a permit from the lottery. Grand Canyon advice

Myself and a few friends have just put applications in for the lottery for the Grand Canyon trip next year. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to win a permit to celebrate a 50th birthday in the canyon. I know there are a few people on here who have done this trip before so I'd very much appreciate a b...

Re: EXO kayaks

I was initially a bit dubious about ordering it but I'm amazed at the quality of it to be honest at the price I wasn't expecting it to be quite so good. More people should take the plunge I reckon. Another nice touch was Exo put a really nice t shirt inside the boat for me. Sadly it's a long time si...

Re: Flying kayaks to Nepal

Hi. I've flown with Jet 4 times and Air India twice through both Delhi and Mumbai. I've had no issues what so ever with either airline. Last time was Oct 2014 and 11 of us were on the same plane (Jet Airline) they could not have been more helpful. Jet is the nicer airline but Air India has a more ge...

Re: EXO kayaks

I took possession of a shiny new Exo xt300 just before Christmas after a bit of faff and confusion from DHL. Anyway I am very happy with the boat. the plastic feels tough and the general construction of the boat feels very solid. I'm not a massive fan of the Jackson rope and cleat style of outfittin...

Yes you can get them from Ireland but having emailed EXO it is still cheaper to order direct from them and transport is included in the price they quoted me.

Re: EXO kayaks

Thanks for the impartial review Chuckster ;-)

According to the exo website the outfitting has recently been redesigned and the photos look pon a par with others.

At that price the transported cost of an Exo XT300 is still £160 cheaper than you're asking.

Re: EXO kayaks

Any opinions at all about Exo Kayaks? Build quality, design etc? I contacted them directly and they will transpot a boat direct to The UK for a very reasonable price inc transport it is still £200 less than most other WW kayaks. I really like the look of The XT 300. http://exokayak.com/en/xt-300/ An...
