My experience is that Merrell aftersales in the uk is very good.
If their footwear does not come up to scratch they will replace or give a hefty discount off a new pair as a goodwill gesture.
It is very rare for them not to do this as long as the fault is genuine.

Re: Worrying times on River Spean and perhaps for SCA membe
This seems typical SCA foul ups to me and does not come as a surprise. In 2012 SEPA arranged for the flows on the Awe to be changed and asked the SCA for their views. They never got any! SCA said they had discussions with SEPA. SEPA said that no objections were forthcoming from SCA despite SCA sayin...

Re: Awe release dates 2013
The river flow should have gone up to 1m m3/day from today. It has not ! Thanks SEPA for more misinformation. It should also be noted that the fisheries trust has objected to the 2 day freshet releases and the above mentioned flow rate. Seems pretty clear they do not want anyone else on the river ! ...

Just sent an email to SEPA.
I would be interested to know what response the SCA gave them regarding these changes to the river levels.
I believe they were consulted.

Just posted some pics on Oban Canoe Clubs' Facebook page which show what the flow is going to be like until later in the summer, at which time it gets cut right down again.

Bought a used Nikon D200 recently. Top piece of kit and no constant faffing about trawling menus.
It does not do video either, another reason i bought it as i wanted a top spec stills camera.

Thanks for all the replies.
Lots to mull over now, though it looks like i will be seriously considering the Axiom or Z.One.
A shiny new boat with comfy outfitting beckons !
Cheers

Re: Dreaded 'help me decide' Post
Thanks for all the well considered replies. My mate has a Hoss and likes it so it is a possibility. I also thought of the Mamba, there are a few in the club and they seem good. I really liked the Karnali when i looked at one recently, i just want to get down the river and have the occasional play on...

Re: Dreaded 'help me decide' Post
My InaZone is an old boat and outfitting is pretty crap. Foot room and hence comfort is poor.
Nothing wrong with the way the boat paddles, it is great.
Not sure whether a short boat like the Ammo or longer ones like Z.One and Axiom would be best.
Cheers

Dreaded 'help me decide' Post
Looking to change my boat soon. Been paddling an InaZone which has been brilliant to learn in. Was thinking of a Karnali or Remix but after last night I'm having a re-think. I have got to the stage now where i can try and play around on the wave at the Awe Barrage. Had an absolute blast last night g...

Thanks guys and also to pickeringpaddler for his email.
Would i be right in thinking that the H3 is similar to the Karnali ?
I really like the K but the H3 will be a lot cheaper if i get it. (it is as new).

Anyone got any thoughts on the H3 ?
I have the chance of one in mint nick.
I currently paddle grade 3 in an Inazone which i like. Just learned to roll.
Would the H3 suit my needs and allow me to progress ?
Cheers

River Awe and nearby.
The Awe barrage was releasing through both gates today. Loch Awe is full and still rainin. Release will probably continue i think. The Lower Orchy is bank full, a good indication that the other bits are good to go, loads of run off coming down mountain streams. Sounds like a bumper weekend for West ...

Thanks guys.
I did what you both suggested but still missed it.
If i had bothered my arse to get out car and walk i might have got on better!
I'm determined to find it next time i am there. What is particularly galling is that i grew up in the area !!
Cheers

I need some help from peeps familiar with this rapid. Today i thought i would go down and have a look at it and tried to find the road from the Banavie side which goes through tunnel under canal. For the life of me i could not find the flamin road! I ended up accessing the bank from the Camisky side...

Thanks guys.
The Lochy was suggested to me today by someone else too so may give that a go if Nevis too dry.
Usually paddle the Awe and upper Orchy. Just want a change of scenery!
The lower Etive was also suggested. Whats that like?
Cheers

Thinking of doing the above this weekend.
Will it be worth going considering no rain this week?
I'm only capable of grade 2/3 anyway.
Thanks

I have been paddling since mid May and currently do grade 2/3 rivers. Rapids run straight down are ok, i can generally stay upright (i'm working on rolling, nearly there!). What i find difficult is to get from say the current in the middle of river and go across to either side to make a different ch...

Just watched this last 2 days. Wow what a course! London Olympic one looks good too. Why do these guys use these ancient looking pointy boats?
