Necky dealer
I've broken a thigh brace on my Necky Chatham. Anyone know who is a (the?) UK dealer for Necky? Their website lists about 40 different companies, but the ones I've contacted so far say that they don't stock the brand any more.
Cheers,
Jenny

Thanks,

Moving the bulkhead in a plastic boat
There have been various posts about moving the bulkheads in glass boats. Has anyone tried it in a plastic boat? The boat currently has pedal footrests that aren't comfortable, but could be used to anchor a chunk of closed cell foam. Would it work to seal this around the edge (silicon sealant maybe)?...

Re: BCU coach system
Hi Silkeborg, It's a bit complicated. Just to check, is it definitely the new UKCC Level 3 that you want? The coaching scheme has changed relatively recently, and the old Level 3 is very different from the new Level 3. If it is the new Level 3, then as far as I know, you need: New 2* (1 day) - even ...

Re: Long term parking Loch Long/Loch Fyne
Small forestry carparks eg NN257042 or NN261013 are generally OK, as long as the local police know (otherwise they phone you...). Let me know if you'd like a lift for the shuttle - I drive over R&BT twice a day most weekdays (usually 8.30am and 5.30pm ish). Could divert to do a quick shuttle, car is...

Duncan,
I think the sckd page is a fantastic idea - it seems to me it's much easier to have a site, and then (if possible) putting a sticky on the lost and found, for sale pages etc.

Re: Coaching Eddies and Ferrygliding, useful analogies?
Ages ago, I watched a lovely session on ferry gliding, on a gentle, steady flow. The coach got them all to imagine a clock face with 12 o' clock upstream. The next instruction was to paddle with the boat pointing at the 12, just enough to stay in the same place. Then he got them all to point the boa...

You tempt me...
Any advice on the logistics? Did you take your own boats out, or hire them? How/from whom? Where did you start from and go to? Where did you fly to? Etc etc.
It looks absolutely amazing!

Re: Does Gore-Tex kayaking gear actually work?
About 5 years ago I converted to DamX - ie I now paddle in a completely non-breathable dry suit. I have found absolutely no difference at all, which suggests that the breathable stuff I was using before wasn't working. However, 5 years on, the material is still bomber, and I am still completely dry....

Err, for the record, I live in Scotland, which isn't an option, and it wouldn't let me select Other. I put North West, which is arguably correct.

Am I missing the sarcasm completely? You're counting smoking as a self inflicted problem. Does the same thing not apply to every time I've rocked up to A&E with a 'self inflicted' injury from knowingly taking part in a high risk sport? Not that I make a habit of hurting myself, but a couple of lots ...

Re: Bank Injuries?
I fell off the portage path round the gnarl bit of the Durance Gorge. No injuries, but I ended up holding my boat with 1 hand and a bush with the other hand, unable to move anywhere and looking nervously over my shoulder at the white stuff below. Luckily the boys heard my squeaks and came back to re...
