The comments about the R. Spean egress, and also the WW Guidebook are unfortunate and misleading. Much work was put in by our last Access Officer, Mike Dales (his SNH funding ran out at end of 2011), on this issue, and since then we have not received any further requests for help from Chris. The Spe...

Can I just make it quite clear that there was NO consultation (i.e. to SCA staff, or to myself) before the announcement in late February of river releases this year. This information was then posted on the sCA website within 24 hours. We were also not expecting any - recreational users are not statu...

Re: Sea Kayaking in Scotland. Questionnaire.
Just a few comments. Yes, the reason for the sea kayaking questionaire is that the majority of 'access problems' now in Scotland are to do with sea kayaking, e.g. parking, access on to water, charging at harbours, camping (in some places) etc, and absolutely yes - we don't know how many come here to...

Re: Oirish touring
Hi My only comment is that just leaving it WON'T improve anything - if we had not gained SOAC in Scotland, by now we would have been kept off some major salmon rivers. Also, it was strange that the only few bailiffs we met, of whom one was really badly behaved, were all English - what a cheek, tryin...

Re: Oirish touring
Hi - nice to hear comments about the new book - my main memories of the last three years (apart from some lovely paddling) is endless driving across Ireland - I or we seemed to be always passing through Enniskillen or Tullamore etc. I can guarantee that all the other photos are as they were taken! I...

Grassroots programme on Radio Scotland
Dear All The SCA has been heavily involved over the past six weeks or so on both the Lower Tay (Stanley) WW Race held on March 3rd, and also this radio programe. There is too much that has happened to relate here (as hinted by Pete Syme), but a few crucial points; The radio programme was billed as '...

Tree on Ericht
This tree has been reported to Perth and Kinross Council, and will be removed in due course by the local authority tree officer (exactly the same as a tree blocking a footpath - in Scotland the landowner has the duty to remove it, but htis is not yet generally known). It is dangerous in high levels....
