Lost - Nomad Foam footblock - Lower Findhorn

I lost a footrest foam block from a Dagger Nomad on the Lower Findhorn a few months ago. Was about to order up a new one but then wondered if the lost one might have been found? Cheers, Paul.

Re: Slippery Shaft

I use Dunlop tennis Racquet tape. Always seems to be 'on offer' at Sports Direct. It's padded and smooth rubber, with self adhesive strip running along behind - so easy to fit. Gives a nice grip and comfortable to use. I started using it to bulk out the shaft after physiotherapist suggested that usi...

Re: Cannich - River / Gorge

Hi Adrian It's the same river but I think the bit on the video is a very small section up near the dam. The bit Banzer and I are talking about is the section a couple of kms long (at most) ending at the road bridge in the village. Looking on a map you will see the road leads out of the village (towa...

Re: Cannich - River / Gorge

Hi Banzer Thanks for the response. Surprised no one is opening up to having (tried) to boat down this bit. Either someone has done it and want's to keep it a 'hidden gem' or it's not worth it because it's too tough. I think I'll need to go and have a proper shuftie of all of it from the bank. Found ...

Cannich - River / Gorge

Hi - I wondered if anyone had paddled the River Cannich (Scottish Highlands -near Glen Affric)? I would suspect the put in is at the foot bridge above A nice? 3m drop and twisting fall bellow (4+?) ? Then the river then seems to calm down but further on there must be some seroious drops - given how ...

Re: Paddle grip?

When I got tendonitis on the control arm the physio looked at my paddles (standard shaft dia) and suggested a larger circumference at the grip. I added an 'index' sliver of curved plastic (got from Lendal ages ago) and covered the lot with rubber dunlop tennis racket handle tape. It's smooth and sli...

Re: RIVER FINDHORN (Randolph's Leap to Mains of Sluie)

Just to let you know that on sunday 18th Sept, there was a tree right across the entrance to the run leading into Randolph's Leap - at the narrow exit of the large eddy. (not sure if the one previously noted - I think it's a new one) The level on the SEPA / WTW gauge today showed the level at the ti...

Just to let you know that on sunday 18th Sept, there was a tree right across the entrance to the run leading into Randolph's Leap - at the narrow exit of the large eddy. The level on the SEPA / WTW gauge today showed the level at the time to be at 0.6. On WTW, this level is weirdly described as low ...

Gene17 APW on the Dart 2010

Hi Never paddled the Dart and thought this weekend would be a good time to visit. Re: Removing marker pen from boat

Try bicarb toothpaste. Works great if marker was on a smooth surface. Dryboard marker (over original permanent marker) also works, but not as well. Google 'sharpie removal' for lots of other methods. Let us know what you used in the end. Cheers, Paul

Northern Alps in October?

A few of us are thinking of a 10 day / 2 week trip to the Northern Alps / Bravaria in late sept / early October. Looking to paddle grade 3+. Wondered if anyone had been at this time of year (and what was it like) and also, if there would be enough water at this grade, at this time of year? Many than...

Ness Glen : Photography

Hi I need to take some photographs of Ness Glen, East Ayrshire (along with Loch Doon) for the local Tourist Guide and I think featuring kayaking taking place on the river would make for some great shots. If there is anyone who lives in the area / paddles the river regularly and would like to feature...

Helmet debate - Hard v Soft Test Report

Over the last couple of years I have been following the debate over hard v soft in terms of helmet protection. Full and half Rockers seem to be considered the benchmark for saftey / protection with the 'softer' helmets such as the Pro Tec Wake being considered less so? I have a Protec Wake and like ...

Re: On Line Spraydeck size chart ?

Thanks again but the one I had found (boy do I wish I had bookmarked it) worked like the Seals one but presented all the sizes in terms you could then translate to all other manufacturers Eg. 'Big Deck' or 'Roto 3' etc etc. (Seals seem to be in a sizing world of their own)

Hi Cripper - Thanks but that doesn't look like the one. They don't seem to call their decks 'roto xyz' etc - just 1.4 or such like. Unless I am missing something.

Recently, I came across a really neat on-line interactive spraydeck sizing chart. You just selected the manufacturer, then the boat and then, hey - presto, the correct deck size was presented.
