Re: info: wanderer helmet

In that case - Does anyone have any spare 2011 ear pads they would be wanting to sell?

I am wondering (no pun intended) the same thing. Does anyone know if the new pads will fit the 2011 helmet?

Lift to Alps Sunday 3rd July

Hi,

I'm currently heading out to Briancon on Sunday the 3rd July, and have spaces.

Will be heading from the London area.

New Helmet

It claims to pass the European standards for whitewater. I'm presuming that all it does it take one hit of the required force. I'm definitely not convinced of it's use in kayaking!

Re: Strange/embarrassing paddling related injuries.

After I managed to break a bone in the back of my hand, I finally got up enough courage to call my mum to admit to her that I'd been to hospital again (the 2nd time in 3 days). Before the trip she didn't want to know about any death-defying stunts and threatened to hunt me down and kill me if I did ...

Android has 'rain watch' which links you to the bbc weather rain maps. Don't know if the iphone has a similar one.

Lost: Boat pinned on Wear

We managed to pin a boat on the bridge station on the wear at Finchale. The boat is an orange/yellow Jive with 'LIV UNI' written all over it. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p99/lindsamf/Kayaking/IMG00009-20091108-1534.jpg We didn't manage to get a line on it. I'm hoping to get down later in the ...

I had just resigned myself to a very long walk when my 'hitching' paid off and there was another paddler in a car to give me a lift straight to my car!

The website is responding weirdly for me. I can only see the top right quarter, I guess, of the video on the homepage.

I'm using firefox on a windows XP computer.

Bungs are expensive and different makes of boat need different sizes. I carry a wine-cork in my BA. Combined with a river-knife you can get a good seal for any boat...

I sometimes have problems on here logging in, and always assumed it was a dodgy network that I was on.

Does it show you as 'logged in' on the list of users online, but you aren't actually logged in?

If so, anyone know why, as I have this problem regually with other forums, but not so much here?

Demo as many kid's boats as you. When you find what you like, tell me so I can try it too! (I'm a little taller, but the same weight)

I paddle an s6f, and it's ok...you just need a little (lots) more technique on throwing it around than the guys do....

We went on a 2 week river trip with a group of kids down the Wye. We said that further end of the river was tidal, and that if you arrived when the tide was going up you could paddle back into the top of the river, but if you missed the tide, you couldn't go into the channel, and you went out to sea...

In short: no. In terms of the Dee; The Dee is not tidal, so no right of navigation in that sense. The Dee does not class as a navigable section, as that right will have been given to the canal. Rivers were not included in the right to roam act (I don't think). This website is a little old (1996) but...

Granted, the Wikipedia reference about riparian ownership is not precise; it was more for a definition of 'riparian' than any technical explanation. This was a term I wasn't familiar with before looking into this issue and assumed most others wouldn't be either. If they own the land under the river ...

When I put away my boat this evening, I noticed that we didn't manage to bring back one of the ratchets with the boat... Does anyone have a dead pyranha boat where the ratchet could be put to a better use? (I'm wanting it for an s6f, but I'm assuming a pyranha ratchet is a pyranha ratchet...) Any of...

The boat is in a split in the river and any sensible person would head to river left.

Then again, maybe it's gone.

Thanks for looking.

The boat is pinned on river right, to the right of a slight island about 200-500m up river of the visitors centre. It was pinned pretty firmly but should come loose at the first drop in water. As the river was still rising at the time of the incident this evening, this won't be until at least tomoro...
