Re: I wish I'd brought...

Deck of cards is a really good shout, definitely putting that one in. I'm flying out there to meet someone who already has my boat and paddles,so I don't really have any space for big items.

i wish i'd brought...

I'm heading out to Norway for 3 weeks soon, was just wondering what items that could be easily forgotten, that I should take out there, aside from camping gear, kayak gear, throwline, spare clothes ect. Has anyone ever got back from a trip thinking "if only I had (x), life would have been a hell of ...

Re: Playboating

Another thing worth considering is your paddles. I had been paddling using 3rd hand werner trips with rips on each blade and so much flex there was no power in the blades. I struggled to throw ends with these for about 6 months, and have just bought a new pair of sherpas, and in the first session th...

Boat couriers

I'm looking to send a boat from sheffield to oxford, and I was wondering if anyone could share their wisdom on which companies will take a kayak approx 8 foot, and weighing about 20kgs. I have had a look on tnt and parcelforce, and neither would accept parcels this long. Any advice?

Wanted - Pyranha Burn Medium

Looking for a medium burn, based in oxford but i could probably travel a bit to collect, or meet you partway somewhere. If anyone hears of someone selling, could they point them my way?

Cheers

Re: What helmet is best?

it was more of lots of repeated scrapes, but I can't get as good a fit with my protec, and i still feel if i had been wearing it I could have come off quite worse. Plus I have scratches on the rocker where the protec wouldn't have covered, so I think the rocker will have done a better job than the p...

Re: What helmet is best?

I have to put another vote in for the rocker, top for me in comfort, warmth and protection. I was at cardiff ww centre for the TVF 4th birthday celebrations yesterday, and had a bit of a run in with a raft. After having my head dragged along the bottom of the course for about 5m, and a few more time...

I'm sure that's what jackson want you to think ;) when i say I can't playboat without them, I haven't actually tried using a foam system, i'm just too useless w...

Re: Do you use happy feet

I use them, and I think they are great. However, they do move around a bit if you aren't careful setting them up, and I have managed to break the squeezy bulb inflator thing, but because I fit well in my boat, and don't have loads of room to move, it doesn't matter. plus, there is so much scope for ...

Do you customise your kit?

Just wondering if people write on / modify their paddling gear, either to make it more practical, or to identify it easier. I've drawn all over my paddles, along with contact info, but I know a lot of people who don't do this (although anyone that boats with me knows my paddles would have no resale ...

Massive long shot here, but I think I left a peak river shoe in the hurley car park on new years eve. If anyone picked it up/put it somewhere, any info would be appreciated

Cheers

Re: Giving Coaches phone numbers to junior paddlers

I have never even considered this as a problem, I have all my coaches phone numbers, and have done since I was about 15/16. I also regard them as friends, and have never given the fact that I have their numbers, and they have mine a second thought. There was never any thought to how this could be in...

Re: Thigh straps

I'm by no means an expert, but aren't they designed to minimise vertical movement between boat and paddler? this would make your body movements transfered to the boat a little better. I've heard they are beneficial for doing inverted moves such as airscrews. I would hazard a guess that the reason th...

So what happens if I don't have a crb and I'm under 18. Is it just nothing, or am I not covered by insurance ect.

And what if I'm not coaching vulnerable people? do i even need one. Seems like a lot of hoop-jumping for something that is pretty useless

Drysuit Top Tips

Just bought myself a new toy, and was just wondering what the general drysuit care rules are when it comes to washing/drying ect, as well as care for the zips (which I understand can be quite fragile). Any definite dos or don'ts? It would be a shame for my expensive kit to die prematurely due to my ...

I have had my playboater work deck for over 2 years now, and although at one point the seams split on the tube at the back, they returned/repaired it (I could't tell the difference) no quibbles and for free. Very happy with them and is still completely dry with no signs of wear
