Re: Wings?

My friend paddles with touring wing paddles while I just use an old plastic Carlisle magic paddle. We do a fair bit of WWR racing and marathon paddles as well as just touring around the Solent. My question is are wings a good investment for sea kayaking, as when I have a go with my friends set I re...

Re: West Coast of Ireland recommendations

As mentioned above Achill Island is a good location. Its in county Mayo which probably has the widest and best selection of paddling in Ireland. I might be biased as I live here . To its south is Clew bay with 365 islands(John Lennon had a hippy commune briefly on one!) and lots of shelter should th...

Norman, I have heard great things about your book Unfortunately I haven't managed to get a copy yet but a quick google search and I am sure you will be glad to see its fetching nearly $800 on some site! :) I might look for a cheaper copy. http://www.abebooks.com/products/isbn/9781780880778?clickid=1...

We will be using a Voltaic Systems panel and battery on a upcoming Vancouver Island circumnavigation. www.vannav2016.com

Very neat and powerful system. Most importantly its weather and waterproofed.

Re: paddler-to-boat leash

Good question. Its something I have been thinking about for a while as I paddle solo more and more. On my surf ski I always put on a leg leash if its windy.NO question (bar landing in surf) Im sure you have probably seen how fast a light boat blows away in any wind. Faster than you can swim for cert...

Re: Paddle dilemma/durability

Great blog and good reviews glad I read them. I think I will bin off the idea of the Oracle I like to paddle with a high angle stroke when pushing on and don't like the idea of the flutter you experienced. I feel I need to stick to the big blade Correyvreckean designs to give me an advantage over m...

Re: Paddle dilemma/durability

Hi Simon, I have Werner Shuna, carnon bent shaft and glass blades. I really like them and they take plenty of abuse with little sign of wear. To be fair even doing a lot of rock hopping you will never abuse sea paddles like on a river. This construction is bomber and so is the joining system. The amo...

Zegul Sea Rocket

Hi all, I hate posting these requests but I can seem to find any good info on this boat. Fast exped kayak. Kayman Raider

Has anyone ever paddled a Kayman Raider?

I am looking for a new performance expedition boat. The Taran is the top dog by all accounts but I stumbled across the Raider and the price is very good. But I am wondering if the handling in rough water would match the Taran.

Cheers

My Water Tennies haven lasted a year. Just got the new NRS Velocity the other day. Only tried them once but they have nice support and good sole for insulation and comfort. Worth a look. Lots of new river shoes/boots out and on the way.

Yes its the date printed on the device.

But dont worry about ever replacing the battery in these, imagine where we will be in 2022!

I look at it as insurance. so divide total by 7 and its good value.
