Wild Camp Site, South West England

Hi guys, Got some students doing a weeks sea kayaking with me next week and I am looking for a good spot for an overnight camp. I would like to avoid a camp site as I am trying to create an adventure for them. I've got maps etc but was wondering if anybody had some handy local knowledge, the more re...

Re: Spot Tracker

Hi, I've had one for years, used it river kayaking, sea kayaking and winter mountaineering and it has never failed me. The only time i had to get a new one was when my senior instructor left mine on the road and a car ran over it, that was an expensive week for him, bless, i'm now his best man at hi...

Re: Legal definition of "navigable"

hey, heres the big problem, the term navigable dates back to boats and commerce and was linked to tides and esturaires and thus canals and thus the term. It was in place to give people the right to travel along rivers etc so that they could trade hence their right to be on it. however it has stayed ...

Re: Black Water, Strath Garve

Its brilliant, get in at the road bridge, really easy parking and you can walk under the bridge and slip in really easy. be ware though as it starts as soon as you go round the corner. Its grade four all the way round, theres one section where there isa dog leg slot on river left and a boat width le...

Re: Problem with Lendal 4 Pce

arrghh, splits, these are sneaky beasts if you don't keep an eye on them. though it sound obvious maintenance is key. after each trip strip them down (even if they have lived in the back of your boat as whilst they are in the back of the boat and you can't see them they will be up to soemthing!!) an...

Re: Advice needed

weird idea, probably not a good one but got to spit it out, how about an inflatable canoe? I know its not the norm but for two beginner/novice and guys who weight is key the inflatablke canoe would maybe be easy to manage, cheap and easy to run with. Maybe even a plastic sit on top, oh a feel like I...

Deveon or Somerset, 7th

Hey

Wondering if anyone fancies getting out on the rivers on Sunday, looking at grade 3/4, exmoor or dartmoor. I'm based in Minehead so will be coming across as such so maybe be able to help with transport if someone can help with fuel.

Hi all, Me and family are moving from Scotland to Somerset so as such we are having to sell our house up this way, shame as the paddlering up here is amazing. We have a cracking four bedroom bungalow with a great garden, we are looking for offers in the region of £135,000. Full details can be found ...
