Re: Austrian or French alps 20june-5july

Hi

We will be in the French alps from 27th June for about a week if you are still in that area and are wanting to share shuttles.

Hi

Have a look at Chainreactioncycles website, they have some 661 elbow pads for about £13.00 which quite a few friends have and use.

Hope that helps

Can you clarify which drop you mean by this please ? ie where abouts on the river ?
Its described as the 'Final fall in the rawthey gorge' in the NW Guidebook if that helps?

Re: RIVER RAWTHEY

just update that there is a tree stump in the slot at the "slot drop", it actually wedged in the slot and wasn't visible from boat inspection. It was on the river right side of the drop and we paddled past it with no issues as the river was quite high, i guess if it was lower or it moves it could ca...

Re: Good universities for whitewater:

Come to Durham, we do plenty of white water paddling here! Last academic year we did about 8 weekend trips to Scotland, couple to Wales, Lakes, and plenty of day trips around the north east and north west plus a summer trip to Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

Re: Keswick Greta today

Dan, I thought that the "white Line" you are referring to is the suggested minimum level for paddling the Greta in during November and December- as is stated in the access agreement you mention and also on the ukrgb guide.. 'New access agreement allows paddling 365 days a year!!! 1st Nov - 31st Dec,...

Re: EGGLESTON BURN

We paddled this yesterday and found a new tree strainer which we walked river right. Its about 300m after the bigger drop with undercut sides (not the slot drop- after the main gorge section) where the river is tree lined. Its easy to spot and there were quiet a lot of micro eddies.

Re: RIVER BALDER

Ran this yesterday (19 May 2013). Once again only 4 tree portages but one was the results of a recent landslip on the river right- the portage is about 50m long now to get past the trees and back down to the river and is over very sticky and deep clay!

Re: OUGHTERSHAW BECK

We paddled this on Saturday 18th May 2013- One fence required portage while we could paddle over the first fence. Within about 300m of the fence portage there is a shoot which has a tree across it- this was passable but its probably worth having a look at- the drop mentioned in the guide follows it ...

You could try the village hall at Newbiggin. Its the lower get out for upper Tees. Other Uni groups have stayed there so you shouldn't have any problems.

Re: RIVER BALDER

A group of us paddled this on the 6th of July 2012 at a pretty good level- no scraping, spill way was well covered and had quite a large flushing hole. At that level the river was pretty much continuous grade 3+ with quite a few trees- we only needed to portage 4 and could sneak under, or over 4 or ...

Upper Tees, Flushiemere Access & HEP

We were interrupted paddling the Flushiemere yesterday by the manager of the site (from NPAOB who manage the site on behalf of Durham County Council who lease the site from Raby Estates)who enquired who we had contacted about paddling it and was challenging our right to be there. The weir by the caravan site (just above the weir that broke last year at eastgate) has now broken. There is currently a 2-3m wide gap and id guess mit will get wider with the next set of high flows. Lots of metal work in the weir construction that is now scattered about the river bed down strea, so...

You suggest that this is resolved "in house" and not on a public forum. How would you suggest they go about this now that the club no longer exists?
