Re: Tide strength SW Greenland coast

I was just Northeast of there last week, based just inland from Quassimiut. We were there just moving from springs to neaps, the tidal range was around 3 metres but the flow was almost non discernible unless you went to a particular point of constriction, there is a real feeling of the tide just goi...

Re: Surf Kayak Skills Spring Session

Sorry chaps, I don't visit here as often as I should!..

Yes we are going to run another in the Autumn, but haven't been able to nail down a date yet, most likely to be in October though. As soon as I have something definite I'll let you know.

Many thanks

I've got a couple of different sets up here at Skern Lodge in North Devon if you find yourself up this way. You're welcome to borrow them both to give them a go.

Re: Cockleshell Heroes re-enactment

I coached these guys in preparation for this trip, and then subsequently led them on it. I have to stay, in my 22 years of coaching they are probably the most inspiring group I've ever worked with. 80 miles over 5 days including one 30 mile day is an achievement for any group, but for some of these ...

Re: Bullitt S Thigh supports

I paddle an 's', and I'm not what you'd call small.... I always find that to make entry and exit more comfortable I cut back the central pillar into a concave rather than a convex shape. This gives me more room to get my knees together without compromising the hull stiffness.
Have fun with it!

Cracking video and photos as always dude. Aidan is Ripping (and deserving of the capital letter) at the moment! I hope you don't mind but I borrowed the use of one of your photos after Aidan's recent interview. This just needed to be done :P Denzil P.S. Good luck to you both at the Welsh comp. I sa...

Re: Some waves from this Winter

Drone footage is stunning! Are you using a targeting system or is it manual? Really interested in getting my hands on one, now that they're coming down in price. Thank you. I've upgraded it a bit but not using targeting, I have a small screen now so I can see what the camera sees. It still gives me...

I'm 6'3" and 110kgs, and have paddled... Bullit, bullit s, bullit xs, scarab, megatron, all of which were fine, comfortable and surfed well. Most important thing I find if you're taller is to have the central pillar cut to accommodate your heels. You're welcome to come and try the bullit and bullit ...

Photobombs

I was surfing/shooting some pictures up in Thurso this weekend, and noticed a couple of quality photobombs from the local wildlife... Anyone else got any unintentional marine life shots. http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad159/glyn8387/IMG_0315_zps41950bf0.jpg http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad1...

You can change the land to be Google earth images therfore removing the yellow land. I found this more useful for spotting landings etc. in unknown/unpaddled areas. Great app.

Re: Calling Solent

I had a similar experience with Solent earlier in the year when I paddled round the IOW. Why was I paddling alone? and, was I aware of how far it was? were the best two... It put me off contacting the CG, and I did the whole of my Lands End John O'Groats trip without contacting a single CG because I...

It's a long time since I was last there, but we flew into Agadir which is only around 30mins to Taghazoute. There are no kayak or ski locations anywhere. We had a bit of kit failure on one of the skis and finding parts to repair with was very difficult. There are a number of surf companies that do t...

+1 for the Ho! It's generally quiet, and if you walk 100m either left or right from Sandymere car park you can invariably get a peak all to yourself even in the height of summer. Lovingly refererred to as Westward slow the wave can be a little apathetic at times, but on its day it's as good as anywh...

I'm 18st and 6ft3" so similar in size, I have a Mega Soverign which I've paddled for years as it is so comfortable, but for a recent 850 mile expedition I changed to a Mega viking which was genuinely superb. Both boats have really suited me, allowing progressive paddling without feeling cramped or b...

Glyn, Is the camera just forward-facing so you just aim the 'copter and hope to get the shot ? And have you tried getting closer to the water as all GoPro footage tends to look so distant cos of the lens even when you think its really close ? Although that would increase the risk if getting it wron...

That was ace - more please! Thank you! Hoping to do some more this weekend... That totally rules! Gotta admit, I'd be bricking it, once it was over water, too. How much wind can they handle? Up to about force 4, but I have to say I don't think I'd put it up in a Force 4 offshore day! Cheers Glyn

Very nice, what quadcopter/camera are you using? Thank you. It's a DJI Phantom with a GoPro 3. Fantastic. Think I would be terrified the chopper went out of range / batteries ran out / got hit by winds and ended up in the water which could be expensive at £500 a go ! Id guess you must have had to t...

2nd vote for the Reed Kit.
A Fleece lined Aquatherm cagdeck and thermal is fine in winter for me, having said that other people I paddle with use a Superstrechy 2/3mm Suit, combined with a short sleeved Reed Cagdeck, and really rate it.
