Valley Storm for sale £220

Selling my Valley storm surf kayak as I've not used it as much as I'd like since I bought it, great surf boat in very good condition. It's in Aberystwyth at the moment but I can bring it back to Oxfordshire or meet somewhere in between. The photo is of the boat before I bought it but it's hardly bee...

Sorry everyone, they are none of the above! I think we have found the owner via Facebook now.

Good luck getting your paddles back though, we'll keep an eye out while we're here

Pyranha Everest - £225

Selling my Pyranha Everest, it had a bit if a swim down a river and the nose was bent and had a small split, the split is repaired and most of the dent is out. It doesn't affect how the boat paddles and I'm only selling as I have bought a different boat. The rest of the hull and outfitting is in goo...

Wanted - backband

Hi all,

I'm after a backband because I've knackered the one in my playboat. Doesn't need to be fancy so let me know what you've got.

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Do you need a backband?

what is its real purpose? For a creeker I would say that it is important as if you have a large impact going backwards the backband will break a lot easier than the cockpit rim of the boat A back-band is definitely more comfortable though, especially when you're feeling lazy and want to slouch. How...

Re: Do you need a backband?

I think a lot of the evidence you are giving of boats that don't need backbands are boats that have bucket seats or at least a seat with a high back - including yours. To me a bucket seat does the job of a backband, just a bit lower down. What kind of seat does Bren use? I don't think there are bett...

Re: Broken blades, what to do?

I broke the blade on my Werner double diamonds recently, took me an hour or so and a bit of chiselling but it's now replaced, if you can find a replacement blade then it would cost less than £10. If you're struggling with finding the same blade to replace it with you could always replace it with a s...

Re: Looking for others interested in cycling with kayaking

Yes of course the downside with the way I do it is that I can't take my bike and trailer with me while I kayak, there is either the heavy way of doing it, like I do and how you described or the light way, which would involve an inflatable kayak and a bike with a lightweight luggage set up. This has ...

Re: Mixing boating and biking

Yeah I heard about the Bike2Boat guys, that's the kind of thing I'm after doing, in the UK it's always going to be tricky getting to where the water is quick enough, snowmelt would be far better and hopefully this summer I'll manage to cycle down to the Alps. As for shuttles so far I have just hitch...

Mixing boating and biking

Hi, Thought I would plug my new blog that is centered around cycling with a kayak on a trailer to various destinations, I am also looking for others that may be interested or do it already for some biking and boating adventures. Looking for others interested in cycling with kayaking

Hi, I've recently got myself a bike trailer that can carry a kayak and I'm looking for others that may do the same so that I'm not limited to solo paddling. I've done quite a few long bike tours before and would like to do a longer tour that involves kayaking too. My blog can be found here https://b...

Re: Riot Power Seat

Hi,

Not a power seat but the dragorossi 'Elite' seat I have looks very similar in how it mounts in the boat, I'd be willing to sell it for a pretty low price. Take a look at pics online and see if you think it will fit if you are interested.

Drilling holes in minicell foam

Hey, I'm outfitting a kayak and need to make a hole through the foam seat to push a paddle shaft that will act as the hull stiffener. Basically is there an easier way than I can think of of getting it through? No drill is long enough surely... The hole would need to be 33cm long and 4cm(ish) in diam...

getting off the beach

Hey everyone, just bought a mega maverick and once I'm out on the surf it's awesome, a bit wobbly at first but surfs great on the wave. At home I paddle out of a harbour onto the surf but on beaches I'm struggling with getting off the sand, either I get on where the water is deep enough for the fins...
