Dagger GTS For Sale

The kids have finally outgrown the GTS, so it's time to sell it on! It's the top river running spec, in red & yellow (or whatever Dagger describe it as!). It's not had a hard life being mainly canals, lochs and the local grade 2. £325 ono, based in Falkirk but we'll be travelling around the UK once ...

Re: SCA and paddlers in Scotland

I can currently accept members of affiliated clubs as being insured at low level events, without being personal members of the NGB I have since been corrected, and it appears that our (Scottish Clubs) understanding of the slalom rules over the past couple of years has been wrong. Apparently, the "C...

Re: SCA and paddlers in Scotland

Hi Robert, I've just read through your posts and the "concession", and I am not sure it's of any great use; in particular the loss of 3rd party cover. This would mean any club member on a club trip is not insured, not a good situation to be in, and one that will need careful management by club commi...

Re: Slalom? - where to start

Beware of any so called slalom coaches who haven't got slalom experience...as you'll find when you get involved, things like bow rudders in a slalom boat are very different than anything the UKCC will teach you, and most will not have touched on slalom techniques at all, unless they have suplemented...

Looking for WW MWE Scotland or N England

Having had Glenmore Lodge cancel their MWE, and then H2Outdoors do the same, I am looking for yet another MWE training & assessment in Scotland or northern England, preferably before the bult of the summer is over! I already have CR, portfolio etc ready to go. Anyone running one? Steve Linksted 0771...

Matt, Thanks for your interest, obviously I am open to offers, more so if I don't have to travel anywhere with the boat! There are a few people interested in various parts of the country, so I guess it will depend where I go in the next few months, or who comes up here! I know we're at Bala Mill at ...

Nomad 8.5 split / professionally repaired

I am selling my Nomad, bought off here a year ago as I can't paddle it like a slalom boat, which is what I am now spending a lot of my time doing! I'd also like it to go before late May, as we're hoping to get to France for a slalom training camp and the money would be good! The boat split under the...

Re: RIVER WYE (Symonds Yat East to Monmouth)

Hi all, does anyone know what the level is like at the Yat at the moment? I've looked at the Lucksall gauge webcam, and yes it's low, but how does this relate to Yat rapids? We're thinking of going over next week for a couple of hours - is it worth taking kayaks, or should I go mountain biking inste...

Ah, I see! Unusual for the thread to get damaged, as it's usually protected by the rubber sleeve. The rubber nut things used on the inside are cavity wall/door fixings, but fitted upside down compared to their "normal" use, you can usually pick them up from your local DIY store, so they're easy enou...

Re: Removing of nomad thigh system

I've just seen a smaller set in Maplin too - listed as "Security Bit Set", and I'm guessing if there are any old fashioned Saturday markets around, the tool man is bound to have them. Maplin want £10.99, Screwfix £4.47 up to £9.99 for a much larger set. I'm still not sure if this was the answer to t...

It's great isn't it...I last paddled in 1994, and took it up again last summer. A capsize half way down Sore Tooth on the Orchy, and my first roll for 15 years! If only I was still as trim & fit as I was 15 years ago though...

Do you mean the funny star ones with the dot in the middle? Screwfix sell a "security bit set" that contains the bit to fit a magnetic screwdriver to get them out. Otherwise, not sure which ones you mean...can you post a pic?

It is not for me to know the club names, what I was asking was, why is CCCUK keeping it a secret I think that refusing to disclose those names to the wider public is hardly "keeping it secret", more not wishing to drag individual clubs into a debate that they may or may not have had with their memb...

The question Neil asked was how many supporters of th...

Do you, as a member of the CCCUK Scottish co-ordinating group have any idea how many Scottish club members, coaches and non-coaches you re...
