Re: New Boat Recommendations

I had a large Burn 2 & enjoyed it, except I wasn`t comfortable in it. I`ve had a few different boats since, but none of them really seamed as capable as the Burn excepting speed of course. That experience changed recently with the purchase of a Dagger Mamba 8.6. I now feel I have a boat that has all...

Re: Drysuit recommendations?

Have to put a good word in for Immersion Research. I`ve had my IR Double D suit for over 4 years & it`s been superb. It`s still on it`s original latex seals, the fabric has been excellent, & I`ve never had any issues with the `behind the shoulder` TiZip, which I can use without help due to it`s smoo...

Re: Advice on buying a kayak.

Hi Stevie, Probably suggest something like a Dagger Axiom 9 ( you may fit an Axiom 8.5 ) or a large Pyranha Z one. They are both good on rapids, & surf very nicely, & although large boats, are quite maneuverable & they will be comfortable. Both are affordable on the second-hand market too. If you we...

Re: CIWW on my lonesome

It`s been mentioned above, but it needs to be repeated as it can cause problems. Give the rafts consideration, particularly when they`re playing in the features, be sure you can "hold station" in an eddy ( some are quite swirly ) until they clear. I`ve seen quite a few kayakers swim when they come i...

*******PYRANHA SHIVA LARGE*******

Good condition large Pyranha Shiva in blue & white, with Connect 30. It`s not had a lot of use & nothing more than grade 3+, but has the usual scrapes associated with white water. An excellent boat for the larger paddler who enjoys grade 4-5 & big drops.....wasted on me unfortunately. Cash on collec...

Re: WTB - large kayak

Hi Will,
Got my Liquid Logic Stomper 90 ( large ) on these pages & eBay at the moment.
It`s a matter of opinion, but the Stomper is superior to the Karnali or Everest in mine. Also
got a large Shiva with Connect 30 in equally good condition & same price, in blue & white.

Cheers,
Ted.

Re: The words 'Easy to roll' on a kayak for sale ad...

Admittedly my roll ain`t the best, but I`d say there are boats that are
easier to roll than others. A Shiva ( narrow round bottom & no rails )
is easier for me to roll than a SuperFun ( wide flat bottom with rails ) as
an example.

Re: Next model down?

Not paddled an RPM but I had an Axiom 9, & found it as you say, very comfortable, but also accomplished in it`s all around abilities. This can be attributed to it`s decent basic design carried over from previous models & improvements made with the latest technologies. I`d suggest the superior Axiom ...

Re: Elbow pads

I can recommend 661`s also. I have a pair with D30 inserts....more expensive but better protection, they are just elbow protectors probably designed more cycling, snowboarding etc. I have another cheaper pair, but they also protect forearms, again by 661, & these are always my first choice for kayak...

You`ll need to bubble-wrap the whole kayak, most, if not all
couriers will stipulate it as a condition of carriage, DCS for sure.

Re: Anyone paddled a L Burn 2 & Burn 3 XL?

Thanks Oat for your experience of the Burn 3 XL. I wonder why your legs twisted? Could it be that the cockpit was wider & in so doing pushed your knees out putting pressure on your ankles & feet? I ask this because I recently bought a Zet Director on the recommendation of a couple of mates, who`d sa...

Re: Burn 3

If the Burn 3 is anything like the Burn 2, you`ll kick yourself for having had the Karnali
for so long. Chalk & cheese comes to mind, the Burns in a different league. Enjoy it matey!

Cheers,
Ted.

Re: Anyone paddled a L Burn 2 & Burn 3 XL?

Thanks Mark, Glenn, & Joe for your comments. Think I`ll continue my interest in a Burn 3 XL,
in the knowledge that it should offer enough room for me. Glenn, I know someone with an Everest,
a boat I`ve intended to at least sit in & try before now.

Cheers guys,
Ted.

Re: Anyone paddled a L Burn 2 & Burn 3 XL?

Thanks Sam for the reply. Sounds as though it may be roomier than the
old large Burn. Glad you enjoyed your demo in the XL, most people that
have posted their experience of the Burn 3 have been positive about it.

Cheers,
Ted.

Anyone paddled a L Burn 2 & Burn 3 XL?

If you have paddled both the above, I`d appreciate a response to this question:- Is there any more foot room, or indeed more room in any area of the cockpit in the Burn 3 XL over the large Burn 2? I paddled a Burn 2, but had to give it up due to the cramped conditions for my size 12`s. I replaced th...
