Re: The best play weirs in the UK (that aren't Hurley)

Surprised no has mentioned flower pots weir on the Exe. But then almost all the half decent English weirs/playspots are already in the English White Water book. http://www.aswatersports.co.uk/kayak_guide/white_water/white_water1kayaking-exe.html Another couple that might fly under the radar but are ...

Re: Lee Valley

Lee Valley is a missed opportunity to create a really great local paddle community from what I hear. Maybe you should perhaps go there and try paddling it before making such statements? To be fair although the dart/mellte/tawe etc are great rivers you wouldn't drive from Scotland to go paddle them,...

Ottawa river advice

Going on holiday to Ontario, Canada at the beginning of August and looking for some advice on paddling the Ottawa river. Spending the first part of the holiday in a cabin about 2/3 hours away from the Ottawa so was hoping to get a day or two of grade 3/4 paddling in, likely to be mid week rather tha...

Re: At last we may be accepted on the Dart!!!!

Kayakers have been accepted on the river Dart for years. I know people who have been paddling on the Dart for at least 30! It's only ever been a small narrow minded but vocal minority who take offence at other people taking away their imagined solitude. About 9/10 years ago a friend and myself were ...

Re: River Avon from Warwick to Stratford

Advice for the weir at Warwick, portage quickly and discreetly.

Put in and take outs = there are several car parks in both areas close to the river but they all get pretty busy at weekends in the summer so best advice is take a map and be prepared to scout round a few to find spaces.

Re: Dry trousers

I replaced my old palm viper dry trousers with the Palm neon trousers about a year ago and they've been great despite having neoprene ankle seals. I've had one swim in them and was a bit moist but not soaked and they're very comfortable to wear. However the bright green does stand out a bit in Tesco.

Re: RIVER THAMES - Centre of London "sightpaddling"

There are several places to paddle if you have some reasonable experience and know what you are doing. London is a busy city and discretion is advised. You are probably best looking at Regents canal, the river lea and the non tidal parts of the Thames if you are on your own and can't do a shuttle. T...

Maybe its time to trade my Nomad in for a riot 007?

Filter bottles for drinking water - which one?

Here's a geeky gear question. I'm going on a paddling trip to Nepal in October and its been highly recommended that I buy a filter bottle for drinking water. Saw this article on the bbc about the 'legacy' of the Olympics and the white water course in Athens.
