I had the same problem, for some reason they don't do size charts. but if you email them your measurements they will tell you the kit that fits your size - I gave up at that point it was annoying, but up to you.

Re: Deveron Blocked!

The bridge has now been removed - thanks to the active work of Aberdeenshire Council planning personnel and the immediate co-operation of the local landowner - who was not aware of the effects on anyone else.

RIVER DEVERON

Hi all It appears that the Deveron is no impassable at the third drop just below the bridge in Huntly. The local fishermen have installed a walkway type bridge to cross the river and this completely blocks the river. You must now portage! Please be carefull in higher water as it is not clear how thi...

Re: Anyone from Aberdeen?

Na, it was safe enough, i was not paddling with a mad, drunken, farty arsed outdoor bandit, trying to get me to do stupid strokes - whose only purpose; i was to slow to realise; was to capsize the boat! I have since learned my lesson and avoid any challenges - especially from you! Anyway why are you...

Re: Sealing a boat repair

you might try glue sticks, just melt one on( i use a gas torch, but a heat gun works too), bit like applying silicon sealant, but it sticks much better and as its flexible - it stands up to a bit of a knock. remember to warm the surface of the plastic to - it sticks better if you do - but takes long...

Re: Briancon by Plane or Train

I have done this a couple of times and its better to go to Torino airport as its only about 1 hr for Briancon and its a big hub as well so flights can be cheaper. Then hire a car form there - its and easy drive on motorways to briancon from there. or get someone to pick you up, its not a big trip al...

Re: THERE MUST BE SOME INVERNESS PADDLERS OUT THERE

Shug (Hugo) There is a club locally that is active and the local RCO Steve is a good guy and will no doubt invite you out boating if you get in touch! Bit harsh of Ryan to imply that the older boaters are only up to grade 4, I used to feel sorry for them before joining the ranks of the old and decre...

Re: Just been to a UKCC talk

As far as i know the new 4* is a pre-req for level 3, the old 4* is not as it does not have the leadership.

It is published somewhere in BCU guidance - but no idea where!

Re: BCU update courses,

Check with your local RCO, they shoul dbe running one at least every year. They are probably on the BCU website - but don't ask me where as i could not find it. Its available on the SCA website - but that does not help unless you are in scotland

Email your RCO!

Re: Just been to a UKCC talk

I stand corrected the 4* does not expand the remit. the remit I understood of a level 3 coach was grade 2, but from the BCU's own doc it is clear that was wrong. So I will stop pushing 4* for kayakers, waste of time and money if you are only in it to expand the remit. But as a point, this was how it...

Clarification

Sorry - just been corrected by two pigs, the final date for level 2 assessment is 2009 not 2010, i got my dates wrong as its the level 3 that stops in 2010. On the 4* leader remit - a clarification from Mike Devlin was clear on the remit for 4* it is definitely grade 2 with the occasional grade 3!! ...

Re: Just been to a UKCC talk

I agree with Giles If you have not already done so get registered as a star assessor - easy to do with an online form for most to fill in - only little bit is they need a copy of your first aid cert if they don't have already! heres the web address http://www.bcu.org.uk/tests-and-awards/personal-per...

Re: topo duo to borrow

Might be able to help, the are a few down in the Aberdeen area that you could probably borrow/rent form one of the clubs, bit of a travel though! is it just for a go or any plan. there are a few folk going to the Spey marathon and you could probably borrow one for that!

Re: Advice with bivy bags

i use them for camping1 Best advice if you are going to use it go for breathable as it cuts down on the condensation and keeps your bag drier, so over a few nights when ou can't dry out during the day it makes a differnce! If you are only going to use it now and again then go cheap and waterproof. I...

Re: Just been to a UKCC talk

Guys lots of confusion on the UKCC, so better to be clear Old level 2 with new 2* (or old 2*'s in both kayak and canoe) has exactly the same remit that a new UKCC level 2 has - and can asssess and train the same! Old level 2 trainees can convert to level 1's with a 1 day course(waste of time!) Level...

theer is one going in scotland at Glenmore lodge - the club coach weekend. But why are you doing it? I guess you must be a TL2 - but in that case i would do the assessmnet then get the new 2* and you are able to deliver the same as a UKCC level 2. Then move on to your UKCC level 3 training.
