Re: Sea kayaking paddle buddies wanted Kent.
I'm spending most of my time in a P&H Capella 166 rm, plenty of space, very comfortable for me at 6'1 and 110kg, not sure I'd want to paddle it in a blow unloaded if I was under 100 though.

Re: Sea kayaking paddle buddies wanted Kent.
Hi Guys, I'm pretty local and am looking to find people to paddle the salt with, most of my paddling away from the rivers has been solo around the medway estuary recently and I seem to be in the same position, looking to buddy up for some more commiting paddling. Able to paddle week days as well as ...

Jackson Happy feet F/S
Hi Folks, Looking to sell some happy feet, the smaller playboat size (had them in my Molan). Just checked the bags for any leaks, all good, condition I would say 8/10 because there are a few light stains. Not used for 2 years and then only on concrete ditches. I'll pop up some photos in a bit. £30 p...

Re: Unusual Boat storage
The council will have garages to rent locally, depending on how horrible they are they can be very cheap, even here in the smoke they start from £5 p/wk. They are tucked away all over the place. Maybe a waiting list, we had to wait 2 months.

Re: Water confidence
Have you tried some good coaching? There is obviously something wrong, you may just need it pointing out (by someone you don't know), could be something really simple.
5 seconds is long enough if you've set up beforehand.

Can't imagine that there are many people who have made big bucks from kayaking, chasing the $ isn't a white only thing.

Re: 'White' water?
Is it that certain cultures either value outdoor sports less or that they really don't like the getting cold and wet part? Cultural values regarding outdoor sports would be a massive study for someone, beyond me at this time of night for sure. Mentioned this thread to the other half earlier, seems ...

Re: 'White' water?
Canoeing and kayaking are pretty much limited to those who have had swimming lessons, have been introduced to the sport, and have the time and money to get involved in what is a pretty pricey activity. Maybe times have changed, but when I was a kid (1970s) everybody had swimming lessons. As for pri...

Re: Preparing for Lee Valley Legacy assessment?
You know, my instinct was that I should be hitting the eddies lower down, but I went with what I'd been told and aimed for their tips. But the waves before them were so big that aiming for their tips meant going through the preceding stoppers at a dangerously oblique angle. I've no doubt that a goo...

Re: Preparing for Lee Valley Legacy assessment?
You had it against you by the sounds of it, arriving late and missing any warm up, not having a good look before you hit the course, rented boat, little experience of concrete ditches (it takes a while to get your brain around them), and not being 100% fit. You were doomed.... Obviously most can be ...

Plus you have the option of the Lea valley club with their storage and all the demo boats etc, not sure what the other aspects of the club are like though.

Re: Beware : Disposable Five Ten Water Tennies
After a pair of Palm Granites let me down after very little wear I've been looking for some boots to wear in the OC1, really wanted a pair of Teva's as the ones I had years back were excellent, but struggled to find stock anywhere remotely local of the styles I like (I was told that they were changi...

Re: Anyone know a courier that takes Kayaks?
Thanks very much guys. Really helpful. Two old school boats are a riot glide for Falls of Lora and some of the Tay waves, and an old Jester Tico for the Severne Bore at a whopping 3.5m. Going to be good fun trying those boats! Cheers for the advice... Nice selection but useless without photos.........

Re: Anyone know a courier that takes Kayaks?
Paisley freight seem to be a common recommendation I've used them a few times, always reliable, but you'll need to check the max lengths on the website if you've gone really old school, because over a lot of the country they use other companies for pickup/delivery (TnT, citylink etc) and each has i...

Re: Van question
My mate just bought a rock n roll bed for his Renault taffic, we put it together yesterday, I doubt there would be enough space for anything other than a squirt boat underneath if you shoving it in through the back because of the rim height on modern boats, although you'll probably get an end under ...

I wish I got a photo but I was at Isle de serre a couple of weeks ago and each day there was a bloke fishing on the course, either at the inlet or the 'normal' get out, both very busy spots, no different than someone dropping a line into Hpp, couldn't help but chuckle.

Too old for playboating? too young to canoe? You're middle aged and need a sea kayak...... Is this done on actual age or mental age or apperent age (being asked for id)? I couldn't possibly comment on a polite forum Wait a second when am I meant to run rivers? Never, you'll only upset the fisherfol...

I wouldn't be owning up to that as that's where you'll be asked to roll/swim on your assessment, so only counts as practice ;)gp.girl wrote:

Failing that, Climbing is good fun, and way less frustrating in British Weather!
