Re: Advice on second hand Kayak please

You may well be better of looking at a kayak that is for an adult and child rather than a 'tandem'. they will tend to be lighter and less bulky and would be perfect for a 6 year old. I had a quick seach and the following came up but worth you doing a bit more checking around to see what else is avai...

Re: New paddles?

Let us know how you get on with the Mitchell blades, especially compared to the VE ones. I almost went for the Bomboras before i decided on my VE paddles so would be interested to hear a comparison.

Re: Broke deckline fixation on an Isel

I have had an Alaw bach for 10 years and an Isel for 2 and never had any problems with the deck fittings so you may just have a boat that had a glitch when they were first glued in. Worth re-gluing and see how you get on.

I would have a chat with Rockpool and see what they recommend. They have always been very helpful when I have communicated with them

Have they actually discontinued the Alaw Bach or just added the ETO to their list of boats. Seems strange to discontinue such a popular boat when the larger Bach hardly seems to sell in any numbers.

VE Paddle swap

I have a VE Explorer Aircore full carbon blade and shaft. It is on a straight shaft. 2 piece with usual adjuster. Length is 205-215. Excellent condition. I would like to swap for another of the same or VE whitewater paddle but shorter, preferably 190 to 195 and if possible with a glass shaft. Thanks...

Re: Should I get a Valley Sirona RM or a Zegul Arrow Play? (Nuka?)

Not sure how much the Zugul Arrow Play composite is but if close to the price of the Sirona RM then i would opt for the Zegul. Much lighter with good rocker and hard chined hull. Not paddled one myself but had a Greenland for a couple of years and it was a delight to paddle (but much more 'compact' ...

Hi,

I own both boats. Height on the Alaw Bach (composite) is 31cms and on the Isel is 29cms.

Feel free to get in touch if you need any more info.

Re: Play the sea

I had a Delphin 150 for a while but found it a bit 'heavy' when paddling....didn't feel nimble...which was a disappointment as I expected it to be great. I do have a Rockpool Isel but whilst small it is still quite a long boat (but great to paddle). I would suspect that if you wanted a 'play' boat (...

As an experience the Crinan Canal paddle is great and wonderfully scenic (especially as you approach Crinan) however having done the trip a few years back I would definitely take a trolley as they will not let you transit the locks. This is especially wise if your kayaks are loaded with gear....the ...

Re: Tiderace Tour 17-S experiences

I like the Explorers with the glass shaft (gives slightly more flex when paddling). My paddling is mostly high angle so a different one may suit you better but it is possibly down to the blade size. If you ring the chap that makes them he is very helpful. I used various paddles but mainly used Werne...

The Rockpool boats do also tend to be 'splashy' over waves like most boats of the design. There are the Rockpool Tarans or the Tarantella (smaller version) but they are a very different beast from what you are looking currently at.
Not paddled any of that range myself.

Re: Paddler size Isel and Alaw Bach

Does good connectivity in a larger boat equate to an lv-like fit and feel...? No it doesn't...it help you feel more in control of your boat but is will still not feel like a smaller version does. I also used to own a Tahe Greenland (the very needle-like slender version) which was incredibly light, ...

Re: Paddler size Isel and Alaw Bach

The Alaw Bach and Isel have exactly the same hulls, the Isel just has an inch or so taken of it's seam line so the hulls handle exactly the same although the Isel is obviously less affected by wind. They are rare to come up second hand so it may be worth looking to invest in a new one as they will, ...

From my experience the Romany is constructed using a lot more resin and therefore tend to be a boat build to take knock however that does make it heavier which is noticable on the water. That doesn't mean to say that the Alaw Bach is in any way weak, mine is 10 years old and still going strong. The ...

I own an Alaw Bach and and Isel. Had the Alaw for years and it is a fantastic boat to paddle. Great as a base to fish off and perfect for just enjoying the experience of being on the water. He can alw...
