Three Lakes Challenge - Charity Paddle 1 May 2016

Hi, A motley group from Milton Keynes Canoe Club are planning to do the 3 lakes challenge - a lake each in Scotland, England and Wales, over 40 miles of paddling so no playboats :-) in 24 hours. They have paid for the trip themselves (as you would expect!), and are collecting for a really good local...

Yes I was a surprised (is a kinda unhappy-surprised way) about shelling out for the L2 registration fee and then being told that I had to re-use my L1 folder and print off the BCU training documents myself - er my L1 folder is full! Of course i did have to wait til I got the pack and then have to ph...

Re: Where do you store your boat(s)?

With that many boats why not leave them on a trailer and leave that in the back garden - cover with the B&Q sheet for added security :-) Failing that ask rob to move his chest drawers and I'm sure he can fit another 9 boats in there! Our local council do hire out garages so maybe that might be a pra...

Re: Advice for novice family paddlers

For gear Brookbank canoes have a good range of inflatables and should be able to help with advice (you can order their catalogue online as well). I've never used them but Kent Canoes have some very useful articles on their web site and seem to be a "proper" canoe shop so should be able to help with ...

I've got a Lomo dry cag, had about 6 months and all is well. Got fast delivery and tried it in a pool session first and it was a delight to roll up and come up dry! I also bought for same reason 'cos i couldn't afford a big brand one! No complaints to date and altho' from other comments seems a bit ...

There's some spray on blister stuff that you can get from outdoor stores (no idea if its any good or will stick to the paddle shaft! sorry) or try cycle mitts, padded protection and not too thick to wear.

Re: Canal kayaking holidays

Not related to canals but re the waterways people checking licence - we have just came back from a weekend doing the river severn, passed through 4 locks (going downstream) and got asked for BCU cards every time. So worth having just for that, the portages wouldn't have been that bad but it would ta...

Re: T shirt designs... Who should win?

Haha! Could 'Paddling Lingo' be any more American? Yep you got that right. Can't say I use 1/4 of those words on a yearly basis though. Any good british kayaking words I should know of? How is "Bra" a paddling specific word? (it's about 1/3 of way down on right of the picture) well mate i reckon it...

Re: T shirt designs... Who should win?

Well i'm going for "evolve" and "team player" (scroll down to last quarter) but that's because:
1) I'm british and don't like the brash US designs
2) my wife did it!

and if that flagrant self-advert doesnt work i will just have to paint the design on the bottom of my boat!

Hope you can help advise re fitting my new boat out - picked up a new pyranha recoil yesterday - having trouble fitting the shoc block foot rests - the block seems to be made of one piece and there is not enough room to slide into the front bow - do I need to cut it down? How do I then pad it out to...
