Recommend me a river?

I usually paddle whitewater but a few of use want something just grade 2 for a touring trip with a kayak and a couple of paddleboarders.

Within a reasonable distance from Bristol has anyone got any recommendations apart from the Wye or Usk please? Ideally long enough for a full two days.

Thanks.

Hazard: Grwyne Fawr, Lower Cwm bridge to Glangrwyney

Hazard 25/2/13 Went to paddle the Grwyne Fawr, Lower section the other day in spate and got on Lower Cwm Bridge and paddled down the little trib to the main river as usual. Just as it enters the Grwyne Fawr there is a line of thin rusty barbed wire just at neck height. Difficult to see and could be ...

Re: RIVER AVON (Saltford Weir)

Usually the EA Rivers Level gauge below the weir can make a playable hole as low as 0.5. Planks can be adjusted but are usually in the best place when you find them. Can't imagine it gets deep enough for loops but would be keen to see someone try. Find for spins and other stuff.Pub does good grub af...

FS: Eskimo Topo Kayak

Well used but still floats :) Back rest, cockpit rim, seat, thigh braces and grab handles all fine. No foot rests but that pretty normal for old Topos so just make you own. I push the front end in for lower volume but it will pop out fine again with some hot water. Make me an offer or do it through ...

Re: FS: Surf Kayak - Das Boot by Dick Wold

Tom, Size is no problem at all. If you have surf kayaked before you'll be fine. I wouldn't recommend anyone in a surf kayak if they're not used to surfing at all. It is a quick and stable boat but if your looking for something small and agile for cut backs then probably not the boat for you. Price.....

FS: Surf Kayak - Das Boot by Dick Wold

Hi chaps. Unfortunately I'm just not surfing as much as I'd like to and with 4 other kayaks in the house I have to sell the lovely Das Boot. It is due to begin on ebay this Thursday so thought I would let the forums have first refusal. Unsure of what to sell it for. I've had some people tell me the ...

Re: FOR SALE: Dagger GTX

Will send photos when I get back home. I3 is not like the Gtx. Google it and do some reading. It is still an all round boat but more in the play side of middle with sharper edges, shorter and less volume.

Re: When they just get too big?

Ok i haven't tried that before... if they are green no problem... if they have broken for a good few seconds no problem... but i havent been able to deal with ones just about to beak yet... maybe this is going to be my life saver. It only takes one major beating to loose energy and motivation to sta...

Re: When they just get too big?

When duck diving it seems like you're just setting up and waiting. Would a backdeck roll at the right time work or would the paddles just get caught and drag you back?

Thigh Support

I recently have been outfitting the Dick Wold's Das Boot I recently got and tried to fabricate some sort of thing support. I have put in hip and back rests and attempted to put in thigh support. However on trying the boat at the weekend there simply wasn't enough support. On rolling my knees would o...

Have you had a look here? http://www.surfkayakskills.com/paddling-out.php Well that is a freakin awesome site thanks. When they just get too big?

Ok so I have been surfing my kayak for a year or so now and it's been fun. However when they get above above 6-7ft it begins to get a little stupid trying to paddle out past them. All the surfers just duck dive and seem fine but in a boat it seems as though there gets a point which you risk a seriou...

Re: FOR SALE: Dagger GTX

I have agreed to sell to Ed above so it is sold unless he changes his mind. In terms of suitability it is tricky because i am also skinny and tall. It is meant to be too big for me but i handle it ok and like the extra volume. However i do need pads on my hips to keep me from rattling around but i s...
