Re: VW T5 - Bed Advice Please

I've got a T25 but personally if it was just a van I would consider a hammock.

Re: Ear plugs through the NHS

I now have Tinnitus, apparantly not due to kayaking, but intend to start using ear plugs anyway.

I've had a look at the internet and "ear plugs-direct" product looks OK - anybody had any dealings with the company/product

Re: Where Do You Buy Your Gaffa Tape

Thanks for all the advice - some interesting ideas, however in the interim I have been offered a free roll of tape - result or what!

Launching Fees

One of our local (small) harbours has started to charge slip launch fees - this is intended to include canoes.

Anybody else have this problem and if so how much are you charged?

Lost Werners on the Dye

I lost a set of yellow bladed Werners on the Dye on Sunday 01/11/2009.

By the size of the rivers they could be anywhere from the put in to Aberdeen.

Line on the Dee

On paddling the (Aberdeenshire) Dee on 18/10/2009 there is what appears to be a taught wire (or line) tied to a rock stretching down with some sort of weight at the end. It is on the centre of the final rapid before the last drops above the Banchory Bridge. We tried to wade out to it but the current...

Re: First Aid Kit

If you don't have a First Aid Certificate get yourself on a course as soon as possible. If you carry a first aid kit you will need the skills to use it and know the legal pitfalls. Part of the course should include contents - you can't have enough first aid training.

Re: Ice on the Findhorn

I suppose one of the drawbacks of paddling in the Scottish winter is that often old Jack Frost has the final say. At least even with the detour to the Spey (never ice there) it still is only a couple of hours travel so it doesn’t ruin the whole day even if we cant paddle – were also close to a numbe...

I've just passed my (old) level 3 inland kayak, nice to know I joined a dying breed as the rubber stamp hit the pass form.

As Allie said keep an eye on the Peterhead Canoe Club website to see what we are up to, provided you aren't too fussy who you paddle with. Might be a bit desperate getting folk out just after Hogmany, but you never know.

Feel free to post on the website to keep in touch.
