I'm glad you called it a tie, or this could have become the longest thread ever.

Just got back from Austria with Escape to Adventure and stayed here https://www.booking.com/hotel/at/haus-klara-pians.en-gb.html?aid=357028;sid=c04e815754116a0c74b74137deefa8ef;dcid=5 It's in the centre of Pians, so really handy for Landeck. Four good sized bedrooms and a very friendly owner. Would ...

Re: Illness - water or food?

I was once very poorly after paddling the Exe in spate, having capsized and rolled several times on a weir. That took 36 hours to kick in. Embarassingly it was on the 2nd day of permanent employment of a company I had temped with for several months previously. A fellow paddler who swam on the same w...

I would recommend Delia Ellard who owns Canyon Gear. She has replaced seals for us before, and replaced a touring neck seal with a latex seal. If you give her a call, she will probably be able to confirm whether this is something she would do. Have always been really pleased with her service.

Re: How stretchy are latex socks on drysuit ?

I think they all come pretty large. I had drysuit socks replaced with latex ones by Rubberman (did a great job). Even having specified my shoe size, the socks came very large. So there's a good chance that the ones supplied with the suit will fit. IMO, latex socks are way better than drysuit ones. B...

You could try going down the valley about 5 miles to Bampton. It's more of a local town than a holiday town so has shops that sell more than just the latest hunting gear. This place is open both days at the weekend: http://www.bridgehouse-bampton.co.uk/

A slightly different take on the various admirable GB circumnavigation attempts this year. £15,000 prize for the winner and £100,000 for beating the record of 26 days, 21 hours and 14 minutes. With only 6 teams competing the odds of winning don't look to bad (albeit you have to switch from paddles t...

A very surreal burger and chips on the Nile courtesy of Hairy Lemon. We were expecting sandwiches, but unwrapped hot food. Best picnic I've had, and all the more impressive from being produced on a fire. The only possible improvement would have been a bottle of Nile Special to go with it! http://i73...
