Re: Advice - Outdoor instructor

Yeah its a pretty difficult one to crack. Do you already specialise in an activity, I would say if you do, maintain that as a specialism and pick complementary activities to supplement around it- but manke sure you have a knowledge of as many things as possible (if that makes any sense) Im a kayaker...

have done it, so long as you use a couple of big washers on the mounts (or make up a small plate as I did) it all seemed ok!

Re: Have you a split boat?

I have an absoulutely ruined Riot Sniper sat in my garden. It has a large split in the hull, all of the fittings removed (including the rear deck hatch) and has had some small sections cut out of the rear deck and cockpit rim. Its yours if you want it! Free!

Just south of leicester

Re: Wanted: Raft Guide Paddle

JJs in Llangollen had some earlier in the year, or try contacting Eurocraft- they are able tget them for sure. I much prefer one over a client paddle- They break to easily. There is something to be said for being able to guide with one though should you loose your guide stick. Whatever paddle you us...

Re: Dam rescue craft.

Hoping that I may be able to see one of thee in action at some point- the concept and design is very interesting- I would imagine if they are an emergency services craft they will be inflated off a BA cylinder so probably not take more than 10 mins to have inflated.

Re: The great Van question

You can buy a split charge system pretty cheaply off EBAY, and an inverter would also be fairly cheap. Despite this, I wouldnt try to run anything particularly power intensive for too long without th eengine running!

Re: The great Van question

The vito is not based on a VW, the sprinter is however the same as an LT35. My sniper goes in a vito with space to spare- probably depends if you have a bulkhead in- otherwise one end can always go under the seats if needs be! The vito is a great van if well manitained, but can be a PITA if they hav...

Re: Any raft guides here?

Depends on where you want to work. Firstly dont bother going the BCU route......Speak to Ali Leitch at the Scottish Rafting association. The only issue being that some of the centres DESPITE being an IRF qual, will not allow you to guide on a Scottish Qualification. Theres plenty of companies operat...

Unfortunately, that is the only way the centre is able to cover the cost of casual paddling- You will note that we have offered a discount rate for evening paddling sessions, and in addition you can buy block tickets to reduce the cost of each session........

Re: Nene Whitewater Centre 2009

Afternoon ladies and gents!

Just in case the severe weather warnings for the next few days do not provide us with all the water we want!- the centre is open tonight (Friday 26/6/09) and Sunday (28/6/09) for casual paddling.

Hope to see a few of you there!

There is not a great deal to do in Northampton, theres your usual selection of cinemas/bowling etc, Chertsey is about a 2 hour drive further on (you may be able to do it in a little less if the roads are clear!)- Alternatively HPP is an hour away- but having paddled there Friday I suspect you wont b...
