Re: Cameras and salt water

traces of salt can be quite harmful, even to a camera with weatherproof sealing.. primarily because as drops of salt water that may have worked their way into seals dry out the formation of salt crystals can degrade the sealing until ultimately they fail - salt crystals are quite abrasive and there'...

....but since this is the UKSKGB I didn't think I'd have to explain. oh come now, everyone knows the forum is governed by a complex set of unwritten rules requiring hundreds of hours of online study to understand. It's a bit like acquiring 'The Knowledge' for kayaking but requires a screen rather t...

Re: Pilgrim Spraydeck

using a Peak Riot-sized deck on mine, fits great and is common with my surf kayak so when the bungee starts getting tired and it no longer secure enough on my surf boat it's still great for the Pilgrim.

Tahe Greenland Carbon

Selling my Tahe Greenland Carbon, hardly ever used so needs to go.. really.. reluctantly.. Really pretty boat and terrific fun to paddle Very light in super condition. Has a few minor scrapes as you'd expect for a used boat and a small gelcoat craze on the bow which is too minor to do anything about...

Re: Does anyone paddle a Pilgrim Expedition?

Hello and thanks Scumspawn :) another positive review for the P.E. which is good - could I ever choose which colour scheme for a Rockpool anyway!!! Am going to try both boats if I can but I think the chances of finding a 2nd hand Isel are quite a bit lower than the P.E. which may be a deciding fact...

Re: Does anyone paddle a Pilgrim Expedition?

IMO the Isel makes a good day boat but for camping the pilgrim ex has heaps more room, and is also a tougher boat if your paddling involves rocks, particularly bouncing off, the Isel is a lighter layup.. At least as a stock boat. Isel is very pretty though :-) although the pilgrim is nice looking to...

Re: Does anyone paddle a Pilgrim Expedition?

I have one. very good boat, suits me well, it's not as fast into a short chop as my previous boat but it's a small difference and more than made up for by the super skinny hull which fits me great, feels more like wearing the boat than sitting in it which is just ace. I find it a really handy all-ro...

in that case if it didn't 'have' to be composite stitch and glue would probably give you more bang for you buck so to speak

there is no 'private use' exception as such in UK copyright law, although there are certain exceptions that fall under 'fair use' for example making a backup of the music library or software on your computer solely for the purposes of restoring it should your hard drive fail. it's ace, fits brilliantly, has never let a drop in. In winter I just wear my cag over the top.

the Pentax wg- series are tough, had a WG1 in regular use for more than a year, best things are it's a plastic body so no corrosion issues unlike past Panasonic experiences, and the carabiner attachment is handy.. on mine I sewed it and extended a little to make it permanent and it clips to my BA so...

Re: Why are greenland sticks so expensive to buy?

If you want to get really expensive, you could look at the carbon fibre greenland paddles produced by people like Blacklight or Novorca... or make your own carbon one.. with the cost of making plugs, the moulds, epoxy, carbon and consumables you'd be looking at about £120.. plus your time... but th...
