Re: British Outdoor Professionals Association

as much as i like this debate, as my inbox is going hot. i will make a few comment, i just want to paddle.... i don't upset any land owner/ fisherman or local .... & the usk & wye foundation is trying to help in this more than most. i class myself as a well informed person & know more than most, as ...

Re: British Outdoor Professionals Association

the river from aberbran down is that the river forms pools in low water. i agree with the above, hence my comment on red line needs lowering, but to get on there you go on private land... all i would say is the usk & wye foundation have done alot to try and resolve the access arguments... more than ...

Re: British Outdoor Professionals Association

the agreement the usk & wye foundation have come up with, work to a point as most of the access to the rivers, you have to cross land owners land & there must be some control. summer levels you scrap the bottom of the river, hence the red marker ruling, aswell as fish spawn on the river bed. i must ...

Re: British Outdoor Professionals Association

seems to me, he has spoken to the right people in the area he wants to paddle, agreed arrangements. and got on with it......
if he goes out of whats agreed, he'll upset everyone.
like most places, there's local arrangements that people go by, if you go outside this it spoils it for everyone.....

Re: British Outdoor Professionals Association

from the comments I've seen, chris has put his head & tried his best, to get the paddlers & anglers together with land owners to agree something that works with as many as possible. It's about time gov boby's put there heads up & do the same. I personally paddle all the rivers mentioned, and have ha...

Re: British Outdoor Professionals Association

Just found this:: Thursday 18 October, 2007 There is an arrangement to allow canoeing outside the agreed access dates(Wye 18th October - 15th March; Usk 18th October - 2nd March). Once the river heights are over the red marker, you may canoe at any time of the year. To access the upper Wye and Usk w...

I would say the river wye, symonds yat. everything you mentioned contact Wyedean outdoor centre. They can sort kit/shuttles and camping or barn accommodation etc. as long as you have a coach of kayaks or just hire canoes you dont need a coach in the group for them.Just mention my name alan Rowlands.

Re: UKCC L2 training

I'm an old l2 and looked in to this. What I've done to progress is with your old l2 do a new two star course so you have the canoe element, then have a crb & first aid. Do an update course to look at changes to paper then just carry on through the levels.
