Re: NSR

The marquee is up, the bar is painted, this years rodeo is ready to go! Massive shout out to Nottingham Uni for helping out with that. As Liz said, there are a tonne of demo boats kicking around to get stuck in to, but sadly, with a smidge under 700 people cometing, paddling is strictly paid competi...

Rush is planning on doing a day there on march 6th, then coming to London either side of that date. Nothing has been confirmed for NSR quite yet. I don't want to count chickens befor...

Re: University Students Can't Read

I doubt the original author was actualy incinuating that university students cant read so much as making a bold attention grabbing and enigmatic title as to gain the attention of trawling web users. plus I dont think "those university students paddling that river when they should have been because ...

Re: University Students Can't Read

As a University student myself I don’t really appreciate being tarred with the “ignorant” brush that you refer to at the start of this topic. You’ve begun the topic with such a bold statement yet you have not even gone on to mention or refer to a particular a university club. Hence, was it really ne...

Re: Newcastle Uni Launched 40 boats at once on the Tees- Discuss

As Andya said, 40 paddlers on a river at one time isn't anything new. I don't beleive it is a rare sight either. Just because you don't see a post on UKRGB about it doesn't mean to say there isn't groups of friends, clubs or university clubs of 20+ people on the river every week. I fail to see what ...

Saturday, enough water to get the Swale in action. Followed by a high water blast of the Upper Tees. During this years BUKE KayakNam trip we looked into the plausibility of Guangxi Zhuang. However, due to it's clsoe proximity (few hundred metres) to the China-Vietnam border and following advice from locals it was decided that it wasn't worth the risk of ending up on the wrong side of the relative a...

Re: Pink boat, tadaa!!

The flirt design is about 5 years old; compared to the Nemisis It's not very good (well that applies to the large one versions at least). It would make sense if you are to criticise/compare boats to give reasons behind your statements. Otherwise the above statment is rather pointless. Pyranha don't...

Re: Hitting tiny eddies- advice

Consider your cross current speed/momentum in relative to the downstream flow. It is this that powers you across the eddy line. With this in mind, rather than considering "the line" into the eddy being a straight one, it is quite possibly a curved or arced approach you need. Use your feet (outside f...

Re: Uganda River Guide

Another reccomendation for Sam and Will of LiLi. The coaching and feedback throughout is excellent, in particular the use of video footage. Overall you'll get much more than guiding - an excellent course/trip for your personal paddling as well as a sick holiday. If you want to sort out any other log...

On a similar note to this thread. For anyone after Karabinas to buy on the net Needle Sports do a good range with excellent value and free delivery. Used them for the first time the other day and definitely reccomend them.

From my breif use of them and the comments I've heard from others, they seem like quality peices of kit. Does anyone have experience with the slightly larger model Chattooga (link below)? Do they fit in the back of your average creeker easy enough or are they on the chunky side when filled? http://w...

There are plenty of boaters out there who are hitting the headlines in magazines and on online blogs. John Fuller King of The Wave, for example, may not draw much attention to himsel...
