Re: RIVER KENT (Sprint Confluence to Force Falls)
Ran today: plenty of tree hazards after the flood. One under Prizet Bridge and a branch hanging into S-bends - both avoidable. A sweeper hanging into gunbarrel which we portaged at high flows - inspect and decide for yourself. A bunch of debris has also collected above the weir just before force fal...

As for UK videos, I think it's hard to take yourself too seriously when you're effectively paddling a ditch :)

Re: Arrggghh BCU Access Doffing Caps Again
Access is across private land, not certain whose but I would hazard a guess that it's the fishing club's. AFIK the land above the weir belongs to the MOD and various military groups use it to canoe here (based at the centre Dave mentioned). Apparently they didn't didn't give two hoots about kayaker...

What's the best/quickest way to get there at the moment? (Already drooling/planning for summer!)

Re: What do you consider as kayaking music?
Any sort of music that gets you in the right frame of mind - fast, slow, any genre, it doesn't really matter, so long as it's upbeat. I have big memories of getting a lift to do the Doe and the driver played a whole album of Jack Johnson. At the time I wasn't really in to him, but I was nervous abou...

Re: DOUBLE PIN
What do people think to lowering a throwbag, maybe even a paddle in front of his face from the left bank? Also it raises a question I've never needed to consider: should kids be treated differently to adults in a rescue scenario? Presumably we're all a bit more inclined to risk ourselves for a kid t...

The amount of perfect grade IV slides and drops.. you'd consider a walk in and a walk out just to do those..richard2 wrote:Fantastic video - it's not often I watch one from end to end! It was all looking rather good for the first half, then started to look a tad tricky...!

Re: Video - Max Koch gets spanked in a hole
After seeing others run the big one the final line in the video is sweet! It was definitely the pause after landing his boof. If he had landed with a nice few power strokes he would have been laughing! Agreed, at 30 seconds the paddler puts a stroke in as soon as he lands, which tips the scales just...

My first run of the Orchy in five years and we found it at 4ft (it was huge!) We wondered whether or not to get on. In the end we got off shortly after Easan Dubha with grins a mile wide!callum s wrote: Im sure plenty of people have been having some excellent runs/epics this weekend...

Re: Central India - Any paddling near Bengalaru?
I went out for 3 months, but at the wrong time. As far as I could gather the good rivers in karnataka run mostly in monsoon season (June to early September), when there is decent grade IV to be had! But have a look at this post, with useful links: http://www.indiamike.com/india/karnataka-f38/white-w...

Ran this on Monday with a few padlers from Lancaster uni. Still lots of tree hazards, but most can be seen coming up - the big tree after the main drop (mentioned in the link above) is now gone. There is a major tree hazard not long after putting on - after passing under the first wooden foot bridge...
