Re: Corryvreckan incident

I think that the posts in this thread/topic have long since become a classic example of how not to behave on public forum. The original post was about an incident where a paddler in the Corryvreckan got into difficulties, and got himself ashore safely. That would have been the end of it, but a fishe...

Re: Forward paddling technique

Hi There are many forms of sea kayaking - yes, loads of people do flat water touring, and an easy relaxed stroke at 3 knots is often appropriate. However increasingly people are doing other things with sea kayaks, such as rockhopping, playing in tide races, and competition. In the Oban area, the Lis...

Wanted - Romany sea kayak

Hi

I`m looking for an original Romany /Romany Classic. I`d prefer some thing cheap and rough, don`t mind if it has been holed or repaired.

Ideally it will have a plain white hull, and be not too far from the North Wales area.

Re: For sale - Romany Surf RM sea kayak

Time for another bump.

Price is now £650.

Currently the boat is lying near Oban, in a few weeks it will be moving down to Angelsey, and will be available from there instead.

Re: Finally tried out a Delphin

Hi If people are interested in these kinds of sea play boats, it would be worth looking at the Romany Surf RM, which definitely fits into the play category. It has the same sort of bow and boxy hull that the Delphin has, and is fantastic for surfing and playing on tide races. Being a bit longer than...

Re: For sale - Valley Avocet RM

Hi

Thank you for your enquiry, the Avocet was sold several weeks ago.

I`ve had quite a few e-mails as well enquiring about it, I am quite surprised it generated so much interest. Thanks to everyone who has been interested in the boat.

Re: Pintail

Yes it looks like I am going to miss out. It also looks like Lucy`s boat is going to be set up in such a way I wouldn`t get into it, so I`m still looking for a demo or hire or whatever of one.

Many thanks for the offer - Wirral`s an awfy long way away ..........

Re: Reinforcing chines on a polyester resin kayak

Hi Here`s how I`ve managed to get glass fibre tape to stay tight round a sharp edge. Apply the resin to one side only of the sharp edge, then lay down the tape so that half the width of the tape is over the wet resin, the other half of the width is just sticking up in the air, just as it naturally w...

Re: Pintail

Hi Lucy Very many thanks for your very kind offer. It`s very good of you. I`m a bit worried about using somebody`s personal boat, I`d be happier if it was a demo boat or a commercial hire, or that sort of thing, and judging by your later comments, I`m going to be a bit bigger than you, so if you hav...

Pintail

Hi

Has anyone any idea of where I could demo / hire / whatever a Pintail. Valley dealers don`t have demo boats because they are not current boats, they are in the classic range.

Preferably in the northern part of the uk, since I am away up here.

Thanks

Re: Modifying an Anas Acuta

Hi Thanks for this, I see where you are coming from with this. However I don`t think I would be brave enough to try and create the recess and the rim in one go - I think I would try to create the recess first, then build on it. Your point about leg room is a good one - I am thinking that if the rece...

There`s a video on YouTube of the same person/wave - www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0OQ32DmG9g - so looks like it is the Forever wave. It`s an excellent bit of surfing.

Re: Modifying an Anas Acuta

Hi Thank you for your comment - I haven`t forgotten about this as a possibility, there are advantages and disadvantages in both approaches. It would appear that building a rim in situ would be the easier solution, as the rim would fit exactly the deck, which is quite high and significantly curved. H...

For sale - Valley Avocet RM

For sale - Valley Avocet RM - 6 years old. Yellow. The boat has been well used, so it has the usual scrapes, but is generally tidy and the condition is good. At some point back then, Valley changed the way they made these boats - this one is yellow on the outside, but has a mottled whitish colour in...

For sale - Explorer sea kayak

For sale - Nigel Dennis Explorer sea kayak, but I`m not too sure of its history - I think it is about 8 - 10 years old, and I think I am the third owner. White hull, dark green deck, with yellow trim. Condition is typical of its age, it has its share of scrapes, but is generally quite sound. There h...

Re: Modifying an Anas Acuta

Hi Many thanks for all the comments and suggestions - I apologise for not coming back sooner, I rather unexpectedly had to go away for a few days. It would indeed be very nice to go and purchase a shiny new Anas Acuta with a keyhole cockpit - at the moment it is not an option, though they are fabulo...
