Re: How often do you need a spare paddle?
Peter, I just had a look at your blog. Is the bead on the bungee what you slip the paddle under? A Euro blade would be much harder either blade first or shaft, hence the tubes on some boats i guess. Love your paddle balancing trick also.

Re: How often do you need a spare paddle?
I'm thinking of a 2 part greenland paddle as a spare. The will sit very flat on the deck and if it gets windy or you end up with a sore wrist they will be better to use. Also fun to play around with some traditional rolls.

Re: Technique vids
We are having a bit of a conversation about this rescue on our Aus Forum. Click the link below if you want to have a look or better still to give us your impressions of it. Thought may be that it might be better to flick on an electric pump first and just get the person back in and worry about the w...

Re: Technique vids
Like the roll sideways to empty the boat, much easier than trying to rotate the boat whilst its laying across your deck.... Rog. Thats the idea. You know when you try and lift a flip the boat by the nose and in a swell it can nearly take your head off. Well this way is much safer. Also the person b...

Re: 210cm V 215 cm Paddle length
Hi Rog, Try putting some 1" adhesive backed velcro (the soft fuzzy side) where your paddle clips. Doesn't stop the clipping but it does cut the noise down :-) I have done this with my Explorer and Bach. Geoff I hate this problem! I have a new white deck kayak and the only marks on it are from my pa...

Re: Dolphins froma kayak?
Great photo's!! Here in Australia we are having a bit of a SHARK problem at the moment and so when you first see a fin you think big teeth! But I must say I have been seeing only Dolphins around Sydney . I have had them swim upside down under me just having a look which is always amazing.

Greetings Timax, it was not too bad, the air temp was just -3C when we got back. A light offshore wind got up after sundown but the land was much colder than the sea. I wore pogies which I very seldom need to do. It was pitch dark by the time we got back to the car :o) Douglas -3!! I'm feeling depr...
