Kayak Courier

Hi
Does anyone have any recommendations for kayak couriers they have used for a 2.7m boat?

I had previously used directcouriersolutions.co.uk but they no longer ship kayaks.

Cheers

Re: Insurance - BMC Claim

I feel I should defend BMC slightly here; they are good when it counts. I recently had to rely on them for a helicopter rescue in Nepal, air ambulance (private jet) Kathmandu to Delhi, 1 month in a private hospital there and repatriation to the UK. I estimate the overall bill is in the region of £40...

Re: A Glorious Way to Die

I'm wishing my internet connection was faster so I could download it in less than 8 hours... Rivers of an Unkown Land is a good book to look at but pretty useless when it comes to actually using it, its just far too detailed and difficult to work out where you are, they describe every single ripple,...

Nice video Stu, now I know why you carry around such a bloody big camera, awesome quality. Rob's introduction to Manali tickled me. I know that really off-camera you were all high fives and hell yeahs!

Re: Bivy Bags

What about a cheap tarp Tim? It shouldn't rain in Nepal over Christmas, you just need something to keep off the heavy dew. Personally I don't trust bivy bags myself anymore after both Sean and I got soaked through in Russia, half way thorough a multiday, joy. Both of us were decent goretex bivvys an...

Re: Flying out to Chile

We flew easyjet to Madrid then aircomet Madrid to Santiago, was the cheapest way when we went two years ago both airlines are good at taking boats, you just have to pay a bit, can't remember how much it was reasonable. I didnt take make boat out with me, but my friends did, i got very lucky with bor...

Re: WHAT: Must paddle country?

Nepal is awesome, just the sort of trip your describing, and cheap and easy. Russian Altai was a real adventure and I would thoroughly recommend, though it was an expensive trip did take a lot of effort to organise. Forking out and paying for a trip with kayakUSSR my well be worth it, paddling and p...

Re: Moscow, Russia paddling?

Have you looked at: http://kayaking.su/en/rivers/center/ Sounds like just playspots near Moscow. Id reccommend the river guides on this site, they've documented loads of rivers across the former USSR, we used the guides on our trip to the Altai and they proved accurate, far better than "Rivers of an...

Sean, it may take you a while days but its ok, Leh, Manila, Chandigar, Nepal western border, then straight to Pokhara or Katmandu. Though i think Carravick had a bit of trouble getting a but at the western border as many are express from Delhi. No worries, you should try Novosibirsk to Katmandu with...

Try Jet one of our group flew Delhi-Leh I think, maybe slightly more expensive than Air Deccan but they have a good reputation for flying boats.

Hey Patrick When I was there in August 03 I safety boated for Ultimate Descents on the Trisuli and one of the Israeli companies on the lower Seti. They were both 2 day trips and the Truisli was definitely the better of the two, it goes without saying it was massive, it was more like paddling on the ...

Bolivia notes

Tom McLay and I were recently lucky enough to spend a bit of time and do some boating in Bolivia, great place. We didn't do a huge amount; we spent too long drinking and getting up to no good in La Paz. Plus the boating in Bolivia is not well suited to two bums trying to wing it. Anyway here are a f...

The best thing we discovered recently was powder flavouring to go in rice. Rice and one little packet, a really light meal. Taste suprisingly good, like good enough to buy and eat at home off the river. We got these in Russia not sure there so common in Tescos. Dried fish and jerky Im a fan of too. ...

Thanks for the advice Neil, but theres nothing wrong with the old ones (I just swapped them for different thighbraces, but now i want to sell the boat and keep the modified thighbraces) so i can't get them on warranty and when I phoned Kayaks Northwest they wanted £50 for a new set, ouch!
