Re: Norse Kayaks - Idun/Bylgja
As with all kayak equipment made abroad you should consider what happens if there is an issue with the item. If its a Valley boat and you break it then it can always go back to Valley. Same with a PeakUK drysuit which is made abroad, but they have the staff in the UK who do repairs and refurbs. In t...

Re: Zegul Searocket C Core V. Epic 18x performance
I have paddled the Searocket and the Epic 18 but not in really rough water. The Epic has a very large cockpit that your legs don't go right underneath so has a different feel to most sea kayaks. I always felt I would want to add some knee bars. Zegul also produced the Velocity which I much preferred...

I have one and get on really well with it. Fine to roll and fits me well at six foot and 13.5stone. It seems quite quick and surfs well. I use it on grade 2 to 4 in Scotland.

Re: Port a Bhaigh campsite chaos
Regarding all campsites If a camp site is rated for business rates then it will have been eligible for the £10,000 business support grant or if the rateable value was above £18,000 but less than £51,000 they would have got £25,000 business support grant. On top of that if the owners of a campsite we...

Re: Too much torso rotation?
Hi Nick, I too used to race and am now heading for my dotage. Recently I have been using a surfski as its lighter than a sea kayak and less faff and was told I should use a proper paddle ie a wing paddle. The surf ski enables me to get into a very comfortable position for efficient forward paddling ...

Re: Cockpit measures North Shore Atlantic
The composite Northshore Atlantic is actually bigger inside than the 3 layer plastic version but yes the cockpit is slightly shorter. I am 6 ft and dont have any problems with this despite my age and dodgy knee. I can still sit in the composite one with my knees together in the middle which I find p...

Re: Should I get a Valley Sirona RM or a Zegul Arrow Play? (Nuka?)
Hi JPS4 Is it the standard size Sirona or is it the Sirona 15.10 which is a lot smaller? I would have thought the 15.10 should work well for a 60kg person.
Its worth noting that there was a much older Avocet plastic that was a different size to the one that the Sironas replaced.

Here is a bit of info about who owns what. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confluence_Outdoor
I often use spares from one company for another companies boats as, not surprisingly they have many parts in common.
In the UK some of those brands are "controlled" by Palm and some by Gaybo.

I have the Peak Adventure with the shoulder entry and find it works really well. very comfortable and the peak material is very hard wearing. Yes I get a wee bit damp just around the neck but its worth it. great value for money and Peak have a great repair service in the UK.

Re: Valley Sirona 16.1 RM - fit?
The Etain 17.5RM and Sirona 16.1 RM are supposed to be the same fit and I have found that is the case. I find the 16.1Rm stable and very manoeuverable.
It is a slightly bigger fit than the Atlantic RM.

Re: North Shore Atlantic rm vs Valley Etain 17.7 rm
Yes the Etain 17.5 Rm has a bit more room than the Atlantic RM . Enough to make all the difference to the comfort as I am 90kg and 6 ft The 17.7 is quite a lot bigger. Sea Kayak Oban usually have the Atlantic & Etain 17 in stock so if you are in that part of the UK you can always sit in them both to...
