Re: Pyrenees dam releases in June

We have a big paddling get together in Fiscal on the Ara, 3-5 june with people out paddling g3 - g5 on various of the local rivers. You should be fine for water on the Ara , 4 sections from g4, 5, 4, 3/4 , The Cinqueta should be coming in too, right up a side valley (search S.Juan de Plan) for 2 G4 ...

Re: IV/V options in the Pyrenees June 9-14?

Cinqueta, Ara (Bujaruelo and below) should still be up, Mibbee the Esera too and some of the tribs depending on summer storms. Check here for river levels http://www.urkankayak.com/Info/infocaudales.php and If you're around the Sort area, speak to the folk at the rafting centres, they'll know where ...

Try getting in touch with Iñaki Arrate, the boss at Salta Rios (http://www.raftingenandalucia.com/). He runs a rafting and paddling company in the Granada region and he's a really great bloke. His English is a bit rusty, but he's always glad to help.

Re: Longest... and shortest... shuttles

Tartagine in Corsica is a pretty epic shuttle, river takes 2 hours and each way on the shuttle is pretty much the same too. A group of Belgian students volunteered to take our van and trailer down for us as some of their group weren't paddling. We should've checked they knew how to drive with a trai...

Pyrenees have just taken a huge bashing with a couple of bridges in the Sort, Noguera and Garona areas getting washed away and whole villages evacuated.

Re: Extra Long Roof Bars / Extending ???

When we were in Corsica there were more than a few cars and vans with really long roof bars. It's worth noting that if you travel on the continent some countries a real sticklers for vehicle overhang. On Corsica some of the vehicles seemed to be taking the max width as the tip of the wing mirrors. E...

While we were in Corsica we were doing the Asco and there's a portage 2/3rds of the way down on the right hands side. It was a really hot day The portage isn't difficult but involved a bit of hoiking boats up the bank and round some boulders. One of our blokes suddenly disappeared only to be found 6...

calasima has been too low the last few days but we're going to try again tomorrow. If still too low then the Upper upper Golo should still be good. Today Travo was realy big so we did the lower, a group of Austrians and Germans walked out as it was pushy 4 with a couple of 5s too!

There's a group of 8 of us heading over from the Pyrenees to see what Corsica has to offer.

We're heading of next week and we'll be there from 29th til 6th. Big silver van with trailer and Spanish plates.
We may look big and ugly but we're quite nice really!

I guess you'll be driving but if not, don't forget that you can fly to Zaragoza too. It's got a motorway straight up to the central area on the Spanish side and there's a tunnel through to the French side too.

Drop me a line just before you come or even when you are over but there will definitely be lots that you can do.

I don't think the XL would be necessary and I think the 85KG is for the small size - S Pure. I much p...

I've got some inflatable ones and they serve a purpose when travelling. However, as said before they're best if you aren't using your own car and won't have to pay for the dented, scratched roof. When it rains water does get inside and even more annoyingly for me is the fact that the straps really g...

Even cheaper than the nookie floormat is an old floormat out of a car, almost all are rubber backed and so don't soak up water.

Unfortunately it's not going to be very easy for you. Madrid -Val Sesia may appear quite close on a USA scale of things but involves travelling across Spain, France and then into Italy. I don't know of any paddling forums in Spain like this one that could help you (I live in Pamplona). Hitching lift...

Re: Northern Spain

Autumn isn't brilliant for water levels as it's still hot here and there's rarely huge amounts of rain around those dates. The biggest problem about paddling those areas is that in Spain, you need a permit for each river drainage area. Around the Pyrenees, that's no problem as they all drain into th...

The Atlantic end of the Pyrenees is dry at the moment on the Spanish side, there was snow but most has gone now although there is snow still on the French sideso there should be water round the Cauteret, Laraun and Brousset area I reckon. There's always water around the Noguera Sort area though. A g...
