Re: West Yorkshire boating
I'd love to but unfortunately I have other commitments this weekend. Haven't actually been to Sowerby Bridge paddling yet. Have fun!

Re: West Yorkshire boating
Not sure if much will be up at the moment. Hebden Water is a good grade 3 run with a guide on here, but doubt it will be up.
There's a short white water course in Sowerby Bridge which runs at most levels I think.

Hiking - www.walkingbritain.co.uk
Never used the walkingbritain forum but the site is a great resource for routes etc.
UK Climbing has a pretty good crowd too, don't use it very often though.

Gutted for you! As long as you've got it in writing from them that they can transport your kayaks I'd have thought you'd be ok unless they can prove that they later informed you otherwise. Just because Flybe were only informed electronically why does this mean they are not required to let Opodo know...

If you're launching from their land and parking there etc then you should, in my opinion, be prepared to pay if they ask that you do. The folks at JJs seemed to think that even if you were just passing through the site you should stop, get out of your boat to pay them, then get back on and continue ...

Great news! The WCA acknowledges that the provision of genuine facilities that enable canoeists to take to the water such as car parks and changing rooms are something that paddlers would pay for Does this mean that there will be a charge for parking etc? I couldn't see anything in the statemant rel...

My last posting here was actually on 2nd June I was refering to my personal perception that you've gone from providing some constructive dialogue to being primarily concerned with being provocative in your more recent posts. Anyway, I preempted all that in this thread with some not so constructive ...

I'd bet that taking the time out to put this petty minded crap together caused more disturbance to your fishing time than any boaters ever do. Garth, I had respect for you for coming on this forum and voicing your views but your recent posts have lead me to the conclusion that you are in fact a comp...

Kayak by William Nealy is a good read, and it's quite widely available:

This is the new version, which I haven't read. The previous edition was good though.

It's been raining in Manchester with more due so the Burrs will certainly be up above the base level and worth a bash. Not so sure about further up stream. It rises and falls quickly so a good down pour over night should get it up enough for a run down from Nuttall/Rammy. Hopefully someone more loca...

He was reported elsewhere as being a canoeist but that's definately an inflateable in the picture. There was also some video footage of this on the local news, no sign of any canoes in that either. Apparently there were others with him who managed to get to shore. I certainly wouldn't have fancied b...

I'm not sure if its carried by US Fire Depts by default, it may require the kit to be brought to the scene explicitly. A lot of local fire departments in the US are manned by volunteers who have pretty much bugger all kit, relying on hand-downs from the state run departments. These are much more sp...

I wear a River Guide vest and think it's great. I don't find it restrictive at all even withn the front pockets full of crap. I wear it for playboating too and it doesn't seem to hinder me. Also has a harness. Haven't got any experience of the Astral vests to compare but they do look a bit more ergo...

Anyone know where I can get hold of some latex patches?
I want to use my old SCUBA dry suit for boating so I'm going to take off the valves and patch over the holes. At the moment I'm struggling to find anything to patch them with.

As for North West Rivers the Farndon-Eccleston-Chester section of the lower Dee might be worth a look. It's been a very long time since I did this and I'm not to sure what the get on is like but getting access at Chester is very good. It is mostly grade 1 but it's not a bad cruise. http://www.ukrive...
