Re: The other Congo trip
I was fortunate enough to be at one of Phil's talks earlier in the year. Truly inspiring stuff from a great orator. A blend of frank storytelling, good humour in the worst of circumstances and an incredible journey. Get the DVD, or even better, go and see one of his talks at some point!

Re: WANTED COURSE: instructor training/leadership
enjoyer: "to LEAD on grade 3 with WW kayaks you need: 4 Star WW - a leadership award" Sorry to be a pedant, but if you want to lead on grade 3 you will need 5 star. The remit of the new 4 star is leading competent paddlers (3 star ability) down grade 2 water only. If you are looking to coach on whit...

Re: waterfall advice needed
The drop on the lower prysor has a huge tree in it at the minute, which probably wouldn't be good news to swim into - but a great choice if it gets washed away. May I recommend the Einion, just North of Aberystwyth. Couple of pretty amazing drops. Not too far from Wiltshire, short walk in too. The s...

Liquid Logic Space Cadet For Sale
Liquid Logic Space Cadet for sale. I've had it for just over 3 years, and it's served me well. It has extra (liquid logic) bolt in hip pads that I have added to make it more comfy. Feel free to message me with any questions. Can be picked from Aberdovey, Gwynedd, or I am regularly at the tryweryn/ N...

did you phone from a mobile Boom? I tried phoning a while ago from a mobile, and no answer after ten attempts or so, as soon as I tried from a landline, it was answered immediately.

Re: What the hell has happened to the new L3?
Hi guys, Plas y Brenin were offering a L3 core training back in march. Annoyingly, I was the only person to book on??? However, they have said that they will put a course on to specified dates if i can get two others interested. I'm looking at the last week of August or first week of September if an...

Pretty apalling at the South end of the park! Unless we get 15-20mm rain before saturday, won't be worth doing anything near Dolgellau.

Missing River Guides
Having just noticed my local run (an absolute gem at the grade!) is not included in the UKRGB guide, I thought I'd start this thread for people to list any rivers which are missing from the North Wales section, and possibly put some material together to rectify this. I'll begin: Afon Dulas (Corris) ...

UKCC Level 3 Training 22-26th March
Finally, a Level 3 training is avaliable! PYB are running a UKCC Level 3 Core training course in March. Thought i'd book onto this, but it seems that no one else has, perhaps due to a lack of advertising. Please book yourself a place if you're interested, so that the course can go ahead! Until the 1...

A medium surely would be the best option? As with any new purchase try it out first, and see what feels comfortable.

Re: DSLR & boats... advice please!
Hmmm, plenty of food for thought, thank you! I think the best option has to be to head to my nearest shop and try both. Having heard no watershed horror stories, I think I'm swaying towards this initially, possibly combined with a padded exped drybag for the camera inside the watershed? Many thanks,...

Re: DSLR & boats... advice please!
Cheers guys, I'm interested to hear what adrian has heard in the way of horror stories about peli cases? I think the problem with the 1200 will be the height (only 110mm) as the camera body is 108mm, which is going to be super tight/not provide any impact absorption.

DSLR & boats... advice please!
Hi, I've managed to get through a whole year of rivers without taking my camera on the river, which is a total shame. I've been too worried about it getting destroyed should I swim etc. Feeling a little more confident/arrogant (depending on who you talk to) about not swimming these days, so I think ...

Re: AFON EDEN
river is totally tree choked for about 2km after Pont y Grible, a good alternative get on, is just after the fish weir/metal strainer, after the ford at grid SH711290, as the river is clear of trees after this point, and made up for an agonising 2 hours of praying and portaging.
enjoy, Ian.

Re: North wales choice of grade 4 river?
paddled the eden sunday. absolute tree-fest for 2km from the suggested get in, and numerous portages for gnarly fences etc. get in at grid SH 711290, just downstream of a metal strainer, if you don't fancy two hours of hell! needs a lot of water though, as the river bed is very wide, an the catchmen...
