Vaccinations for Uganda?

I'm off to the Nile in August. Last time I was going (9 years ago, didn't actually go in the end) all I got was yellow fever and some malaria tabs. I think this was because I had previously had the hep a and b jabs. My other half went for hers today and had to have everything (hep a and b, typhoid a...

Re: Jackson Superstars

Also I contacted square rock and they have no more 2013 superstars left. With the star range being discontinued (except the monstar and rockstar) ill have to keep my eyes out for a 2nd hand one. However, I think Ill need the monstar after further research.

Re: Jackson Superstars

Regards the rockstar I have done some research. The old rockstar is indeed large and would probably suit my needs. However, the new large rockstar is now smaller than the previous!?! Why they mess with the sizes is beyond me.

Jackson Superstars

I owned a 2007 superstar and it felt well balanced, easy to paddle and felt like I wasn't too big for it. Today I paddled a 2010 superstar at TB and it felt alot smaller (it is in length but not vol). To get in it I had the seat all the way back, as a result the stern was under water just sitting in...

Re: Slovenia end of July, any water?

I went August just gone. Only the lower gorge had water. However, this was definitely not empty. It was an ideal venue for my partner who is developing on grade 3. Off the river is beautiful and relaxed also.

This is 2nd hand knowledge but thought I would pass it on.

Since the floods a couple of my mates have paddled the Leven. They portaged Backbarrow as the said it looked different, as in something was in it or the bedrock had moved.

Re: RIVER TROUTBECK

Paddled 3 days ago after the latest floods at "sporty" levels. ALL rocks covered everywhere!! Currently 2 trees in it that require a portage at high levels. The first is the most awkward. It is just after the first blind 90 degree left hand bend in the gorge. The eddy on the right you would catch to...

Re: Grade 3 classics?

What defines a classic? The rapids? The scenery? Reliability? The clubability? I would say for me it has to be the rapids. So with this in mind I would add the Roeburn in high water. At no point do the rapids get above grade 3 but eddies disappear and the trees can become an issue. So this removes i...

[quote="Jim"]Not at all, it's the best grade 1-3 river festival - of course it won't compete with a grade 3-5 festival in the minds of serious WW kayakers, but for anyone looking to do some trips from grade 1-3 it is fantastic. If it rains it is even better since it is well placed for a lot of other...

Re: WARNING HALTON RAPIDS

I live in Halton and walk by the rapids regularly. I agree that the corner is no longer a sensible place to portage. However, about 100 metres upstream on river right there is a massive grassy gap in the trees where the footpath comes next to the river. Get out here and get in below the hydro. Even ...

The blade looks offset forward of the hand. At first I thought cranks but don't think they are.

Mamba 8.6 should be compared to the Director if you are the required size for the 8.6. Both great boats. I have paddled both but after carrying the mamba around Chile I was glad I owned a director. The weight difference is very noticeable.

Re: Should I paddle with people who don't belong to a Club

In my view, as soon as a boater loses the ability to sympathise with the difficulties and challenges that normal club paddlers have to deal with, it is time for them to move on. But never rule out going back to a club when you get older and your skills regress back to the 'club boater' level (if th...

Re: Should I paddle with people who don't belong to a Club

The problem is I go kayaking to enjoy myself. My time is even more limited now that I am a father. So out of the two following options which do you think I would prefer. A) Paddle rivers at the grade I enjoy with mates who know what they are doing etc B) Go down my local club, faff while they decide...

from no paddling skills to grd 4+ runners. I doubt they are gd4+ paddlers from a club only back ground! I have paddle with enough idiots who say they are "grade 4" paddlers to take that statement with a massive pinch of salt!! If you want to get good you need to paddle with good boaters, ideally be...

Is the Tyne Tour the worst "river" festival? Im not on about the social side, I think all other UK festivals have a better base river.

Never paddled on a Tyne tour but have paddled the north Tyne.

I can't remember much except that warden gorge is the only thing of interest on it. My question is can you do laps of this rapid by walking back up?

Vimeo and music copyright

I have been a long time user of Vimeo as they didnt have an issue with what music you have as your background music. I have now just tried to upload a video with two different tracks on (fairly obscure) and both have been flagged up and denied.

So where do I go now to upload my kayaking vids?
