Re: Lower Grywne

I walked along the river yesterday. There are two huge beech trees down and across the river - totally impassible at any level. They are about 450m upstream of the Llangenny road bridge and 250m dowstream of a small arched stone footpath/track bridge over the river.

Re: Infinity Wezzit

It's a tough one I think - as not a well documented kayaking venue. It was a photo in a hotel room I stayed in this summer. I'll give some clues tomorrow - if no one's warm.

There's not much happening on the rivers, so time to resurrect an old thread.

Re: Can graph info be back tracked for water levels?

This question was recently asked on the Dart FB page. If you go to these sites: http://www.paddlebubble.com/river_gauges/v/1169/dunnabridge/west-dart http://www.paddlebubble.com/river_gauges/v/1170/austins-bridge/dart ... and set the date in the window in the lower right hand side of the screen, you...

Re: Afon Grwyne Fawr - Grwyne Fawr Reservoir to the Usk

Ran the lower Grwyne this morning. EA Millbrook on-line gauge on 0.4 (OK level), which matched the river left physical gauge just above the Millbrook weir (river right gauge still not mended). Watch out for a string of barbed wire across (which we could duck under), not far down from get in - may no...

River Levels - very useful site

This River Levels site uses EA data to provide current and historic (up to one month) data on levels, rise/fall etc. Worth bookmarking. Let's hope it stays on-line (re the commentary in the About section).

Lost: Mitchell paddles - Allt Feith a Mhoraire

Red Mitchell paddles lost on Allt Feith a Mhoraire today. Bank crew did not see them go down and no sign of them when we walked the bank. They have my phone number on or contact via PM.
PS - the blue Mitchells lost on Monday were someone else's - not mine!

In my part of S Wales it was persistent rain all day - not too hard - which would be consistent with the Tawe staying roughly steady.

Re: Who Started "Wild Water"?

Chris Hawksworth also organised one of the early Grand Canyon kayak trips ... This was in 1971 (I was at Bradford Univ.), and I recall that, at the time, the trip report was quite an amusing write-up. Whether the humour transcends the passing of 40 years is another matter - but of anyone can post a...

Re: Kayak rental NZ north island

Try Kaituna Cascades or another local river company. I hired kit (in 2005) to join daughter doing a Duo trip with them. If they don't hire out kit 'to take away', they may be able to say who does.

Well done for your good works. Is that section now clear?
When you say 'lost' do you mean someone picked them up off the bank whilst you were working on the log jam or lost in some other way?

BTW - can you do the same on the upper? :-)

Nedd and Taff Fechan tree blockages?

Any updates on how blocked the Nedd Fechan is: Nedd Fechan. Tree hazards - and are there any known tree blockages on the Taff Fechan - from below the gorge down to Merthyr?

I recommend Interparcel. http://www.interparcel.com/ . Using their Interparcel Economy service, a reasonable sized package costs £6.50 +VAT. They act as agents - so use different carriers for their different services. Last time I used them, I placed the order at 11:30am, collected at 2:00pm and deli...

A couple of weeks ago the webcam showed what looked like an aluminium pontoon floating in and out of shot - maybe that caused the damage.

Thanks Mike - I had been checking the Fishing Wales gauges, but no mention of the Irfon gauge. Good run anyway - bit thin in parts and plenty of trees hanging in the water t...

Sat 1 Aug - what's running?

The forecast overnight rain seems to have finished up as a series of light showers, and levels dropping after Wednesday's rain. Anyone know the levels of Upper Irfon or any G3/G4 S Wales rivers? What's worth a visit this morning?
Thanks
