Broken pyranha burn medium shell

Broken Burn shell up for grabs if anyone has a use for it. 7 splits in the hull that have been welded many many times!  I've stripped out the outfitting for use elsewhere but still have a few bits lying around if someone is needing spare parts. In Glasgow just now but i travel round a fair bit so ma...

WWPF 2012 thanks & feedback

On behalf of the rec rivers committee and everyone else involved in the weekend I want to thank everyone that came for making it such a great success! We really appreciate that people followed the rules and didn't park cars in the lay-bys, used the correct get-ons and get-offs, didnt sleep in the ca...

Re: Austria River Conditions from the Kayak School Arlberg T

Anyone else out in Austria at the moment? 4 of us just arrived the campsite in Prutz today and looking for some other folk to paddle with/ help with the shuttle.... Post up here if you see this and want to meet up. We'll probably be moving on somewhere else in a couple days time but about for the ne...

Re: Austria River Conditions from the Kayak School Arlberg T

Steve I'm trying to get together a last minute trip out to Austria the middle 2 weeks of July (7th onwards). Could you give me an idea of what you think the levels might be doing by then? I know a lot could change in the next 2 weeks but any pointers you have for a good place to start would be much ...

Re: Gorge Walking

Falloch is good for gorge walking/swimming. Park up a the Falls of Falloch (signposted off the A82 at the top of loch lomond) then head up the river above the falls. There is some good bits to climb up and slide back down, a few holes in the rock that you can swim through if you know where to find t...

Re: Dirty great gouges in boats

I put a massive gouge in my boat too but I think it was on the rapid about half way down on a right hand bend where you can go down either side of a large island. I went down the left, over the small drop at the end and heard the rip. We had a swimmer under that bridge and plenty of folk playing abo...

Re: Helmet Rubbing

Body glide is good. I've been using it for 18 months now when surfing and makes a massive difference. Will do a lot less damage to your latex cag seal than vaseline as it's not oil based.... There is also a spf25 version which I've just bought. Hope it helps cut down on the silly tan lines.

Re: Surf this weekend (Cornwall/Devon)

So the south coast is the place to go then :p Cheers Denzil for the tips. I'll have a proper look at the forecast again tonight and see if I can pick somewhere. I'm reasonably good in the surf but it's been a couple years since I was out in 12+ft waves. Don't fancy breaking my glittery boat so may a...

Surf this weekend (Cornwall/Devon)

Can some of the locals please help me with some advice please. There appears to be massive surf hitting the south west this weekend and I am planning on popping down from Reading/Newbury area for a couple days. Any suggestions on beaches that will work? The ones that I was at in October will be clos...

Re: Do we need the Moon?

1.28 seconds of me flushing off the wave lol! The nose of Dave Biggin's boat is in there too along with his girly scream as he paddles past someone on the wave. 2 days of filming cut down to 2 mins of clips - that's extreme editting. If I remember right the Falls were running between 3.8 and 4m tide...

Re: WWPF 2010 - aftermath

Many thanks to all those that organised and helped out over the weekend. I had a great time! A few observations that I made, which are not meant to offend or annoy anyone: Everything seemed to run smoothy and I didn't care about the Moriston release starting late - long lie and breakfast was the way...

Re: Parking at the WWPF!

May I ask if the shuttle buses be running later into the evening then? I know from previous years that I (and others) have still be on the Moriston when the buses stop shuttling folk and we've had to ask other paddlers/spectators, who have their car at the lower car park, for lifts back to the gun c...

My d60 lives in a 1200. It's quite tight height wise but loads of room around about for whatever lens I have on.

Re: Where am I?

Is it the burn that runs past Glencoe Ski Centre, quite close to (crossing under) the A82 over a series of drops and then joins the Etive close to the Kingshouse? I've often thought there must be something on that burn, but have never even heard it given a name, let alone talk of anyone actually ru...

Re: Where to get New, Cheap, Low Spec Boats.

Strathclyde Uni Sports Union did raise the question about the club buying second hands boats when I joined the club many years ago but as far as I know there are no set rules against it. I just explained to them: (a) I have been paddling x number of years, have bought and sold many boats and I perso...

From previous experience last summer, we usually head up to get there about 1pm. The lower will still be empty at that point but the upper is usally running fine and by the time you've done that a couple times the lower will be going. I believe the release runs through to Wednesday lunchtime but the...

Cheers for the replies Malcolm & Denzil. If you don't mind destroying a paintbrush (buy a really cheap one form a pound shop, local market or similar) then ther is no reason that the lomo deck can not be as dry as the nookie surf deck. Most art shops sell liquid latex (if you want it to look good t...
