Re: Teksport Rockhopper 340 info

I would second the comment about the weight. I had one for a while but the prospect of getting it on and off the van contributed to it's lack of
use. If you can get one dirt cheap and can cope with the weight it might be worth a punt.

foot rests..

Hi I've bought a s/h Mega Neutron and it has a selection of foam blocks shoved into the foot area which kind of just do the job but aren't great. Can anyone suggest what to replace them with ? And where to get ? I've looked at Mega and they sell a selection of foam blocks - possibly what's already i...

Sri Lanka ?

Has anyone taken a boat to Sri Lanka and surfed there ? Any advice / recommendations / reports would be welcomed. Seasons, locations, travel logistics etc etc I'm thinking friendly beach breaks, nothing too big and no epic battles to get back out preferably. Or anywhere else that fulfills the brief ot...

Re: sun protection

Yes wearing a hat is a good thing but I think part of my problem was that on the water the sun still zaps you from
underneath as it bounces off the water

sun protection

Having had a close shave with a melanoma on my temple I wondered if anyone has a recommendation for genuinely waterproof, high factor sunblock ? Surfing is a particular issue as not only does it wash the suncream off it knocks your hat off too ! My problem was entirely caused by sunlight. I'm sure y...

J bars

I have roof bars on my van which are approx 40mm square. I've just tried to fit a pair of Lomo twin tube j bars but the brackets will not tighten securely enough- 40mm appears to be just outside the limit of the bracket design. Does anyone know of any j bars which can be fitted to roof bars of 40mm ...

to have done for him and he's packed it in this morning.

In the surf I can roll my Necky Jive 9 times out of 10 and when practicing rolling it's 100%. However, when practicing in my Quest on nice flat water, I fail 9 times out of 10. Any suggestions ? I have wondered if it's the different paddle, though I haven't yet tested this theory. Are there any othe...

Lomo j bars

I need to replace my ancient upright bars with something a little better and am considering the LOMO double tubed j bars.
Would anyone recommend these ? I have a carbon Quest. Do these bars conform well to the hull shape of a sea kayak ?

thanks

Could you recommend a boat or two please

I'm on the look out for a reasonably cheap, used surf boat and wonder if you could recommend a few to look out for that might suit me.... I've been using a Necky Jive for many years and think I'm fairly competent in reasonable surf. I'm about 5'10, medium build. I enjoy carving on nice clean - thoug...

Ken - that's exactly it. Having a tall van / dodgy back combination, I'm wondering if the weight saving could be useful - several straws taken off the camels back.

Re: Quest LV weight : carbon v composite

Thanks Rog, all the answers there. So, for anyone else who might be interested it's 60lbs diolen, 55.6lbs carbon/kevlar less another 2lbs if you have the clear hull. 27.6 k " 25.3k " " 1 k " The un-answerable question is whether this weight saving justifies the extra cost. cheers Geoff

Re: Quest LV weight : carbon v composite

Having checked P&H website, the Cetus has a difference of .66k , so the answer is 'not a lot' I suppose. Did think it might be more.
