Re: Kayaks and sharks in Cornwall

I took my wife to Mull late May in the best weather I have ever experienced there. As she is not a kayaker, we took a boat trip to Staffa to see the puffins and wildlife. The boat, for those interested was the "Iolaire of Iona" http://www.staffatrips.co.uk/ Upon leaving Ffionnphort we headed north t...

Re: Canon 7D

Mike, the battery pack just arrived. Ultimately it does all the same things as the Canon alternative. At £30 instead of c.£170 you can feel the difference in build quality....but if it works I don't care :) 7D not here yet...don't buy from DigitalRev! :( Once its on the camera you wont even think a...

Re: Canon 7D

Bought! The 7d examples on vimeo made it an easy decision and seeing the 60d in the flesh concreted it. Can't wait!!! You wont regret one minute of it. Also cracking battery pack on ebay form China at half the price of the Canon units and it is flawless!!! Allows full controls in portrait using the...

Re: ATC9K HD Action Camera or Go Pro?

THat POV is one nice piece of gear Simon :-) Trouble is, like you said expensive. That $600 will equate to £600 over here I am sure. You would think twice about losing that piece of kit, whereas either of the others is reasonable, to a point. Thanks for the heads up on the Go PRO, interesting indeed...

Re: Canon 7D

Ryan, I have the 7D. Simply superb including the 1080P video output. There is a TV detective programme that was filmed completely on several 7D's, cant remember which one it was. Bear in mind that the video utilises all the 7D lenses, so once you have. or maybe you already have a set of canon lenses...

Re: ATC9K HD Action Camera or Go Pro?

THe ATC 9K IMO is the better unit. It has an LCD screen so you can view your video and a waterproof remote. My friend has one which he attaches to the surfboard when surfing and to the lines of his paraglider when flying. Check out the Youtube videos here for quality: http://www.youtube.com/user/gar...

Horis,
Brookbank Stock split paddle bags.
One thing to remember with Salt water.
Wash the damn zipper every time without fail or you end up with a flap to wrap your paddles in ;-)

Re: Anas Acuta history

Hi Jim, Thanks for your info. The cockpit is an ocean one - about 38 cm wide and 51 cm long. My gut feeling is that it was originally sold as a raw boat - without hatch, skeg and deck fittings. It has a "raw feeling" to it - with the fibre glass work being rather rough inside. I was wondering if so...

James,
If it floats me and some kit believe me its high volume :-)
I weigh 105kg, that's without the paddling gear (terrible thought I know)

I think the term I used was higher volume

Re: Cetus MV

Dan, The Cetus MV is a totally different boat to the Cetus, I have paddled both, and, I admit its probably due to my weight in the MV, which is why I purchased the higher volume Cetus. If people above are talking about the Cetus then its not relevant to the Cetus MV IMO. Whatever you choose, comfort...

Re: For Scottish wildlife, go CalMac

Mike, If I rerember the rules correctly you have to be over 5m to be classed as a commercial vehicle, so VW transporters would be fine on a car ticket. I travel back and forth in my van on the Lewis and Harris boats as a 'car' with no problem. I've travelled commercial with 7.5 tonne lorries severa...

Agree there StewH.
The "oil is running out" is another scam by the global elite to jack oil prices up, similar to the Global warming scam recently debunked.

Re: For Scottish wildlife, go CalMac

Slightly off topic but related and relevant to people travelling on Calmac My friend was removed from the Calmac ferry in Oban by some pompous person, simply because his motorhome (self built with no side windows) did not have a toilet and was deemed a commercial van. He had purchased a ticket for a...

Thanks Delphinidae, didn't check the link. I am for this sort of stuff in comparison to Nuclear because its totally risk free in comparison.
