Re: Annoyed, fed up. BC don't get it?

Had my response back from my MP, basically his response is, blah blah blah blah blah, voluntary agreements, blah blah blah. Have you seen the signs the Wye and Usk Foundation have had up for ages on the Usk? These signs have EAW, and Welsh Assembly , Coutryside Council for Wales logo on them . NRW ...

Another mealy mouthed response from R. Benyon MP the biased minister from DEFRA. Don't let the apathetic set the pace. Wrewbank, "Who really cares?" Their are a lot of us that care for the sake of all. Re: Sport England and funding the Angling Trust

NathanE I based my figures on annual rod licences for freshwater fishing. The statistics? you show are unreliable. Sea angling has not, to my knowledge, tried to claim the sea to be solely for them. I have no problem paddling past friendly or, at least, none aggressive anglers, sitting quietly on a ...

Re: Sport England and funding the Angling Trust

My point is highlighted in SimonMW post, that an organisation that is actively and openly trying to STOP canoeing and other non-angling activities, should not be receiving funding from a Sports organisation. I do not object to the funding but the attitude of the organisation against other sports. Ca...

Sport England and funding the Angling Trust

Did you know that the Angling Trust receives funding from Sport England? Last year it was £1.8 million and has been in excess of £1 million for a few years. Why? I am sure that the AT's persistence in seeking the exclusion of all activities, other than fishing, on our nations waterways is against th...

It is good that some of you are taking the time to raise our problems with your MP's. But we need more, it is a simple process, please write to your MP. If you can read this you have the means to get active and hopefully help canoeists and other river users gain the freedom we have the right to do. ...

Re: Setting the clock backwards on the Dart?

Although I have commented in this thread, I have no experience of the Dart. But I have experience of too many rivers where paddlers are not welcomed by the fishy types. I have been shouted at and threatened, by anglers, people saying that they own this river and other pretending to be water bailiffs...

Those that are negotiating from our side should clarify what members really want and not assume they are doing it correctly. Negotiation is not necessary with common law in our favour. Frustrating...

Re: Setting the clock backwards on the Dart?

I really am getting fed up of being the underdog. What is our governing body thinking of? Certainly not the paddlers who pay and support them! We paddlers need to see some agressive negotiation without stepping back to the past situations. The Rivers in the UK are not private property but should be ...

The Wye and Usk Foundation have on their website that: a. Cormorants eat 3kg of fish per day. There must be a special giant breed of cormorant on the Wye and Usk, let us hope that only fishy folk are under the birds when they loose their bowels (yuck). Re: New signs on the Wye

The point where the river starts to reach the flood plain is the point where the river starts to move horizontally across such land that is not part of the river bank. Re: New signs on the Wye

We need no signs. The Navigation Act includes the incidental and reasonable use of the river banks. As that is the law why diminish it? So why do the fishy folk want to keep us off the banks? Re: New signs on the Wye

Apparently the Wye and Usk Foundation had made 300 hundred of the signs I had complained about. We all know their intentions are to rid the rivers of canoeists by foul means or fair. They must have wasted a fortune on these signs. They look like the metal ones used as road signs so must cost a fair...

I can confirm that it is the signs that will be removed and that Dane Broomfield from the EA is looking into this on behalf of both EA and ourselves.

Yours sincerely

The Environment Agency are investigating that. They are surveying the riverside signs this week and then they can workout which landowner or fishery erected them.
